Last weekend was the Illinois Open in Oakbrook, IL and I entered relaxed. I was joking with Mark and Tony about getting paired with a GM in round 1. I said I will play 20 moves and let that guy off the hook with a draw because he is a professional chess player. Well I was half-right I got the GM in round 1 with the White pieces and we played the Moscow variation of the Sicillian. I got to the drawn position on move 47 and lost on move 48. I let a golden opportunity get a way as always I welcome analysis and commentary and then I will post detailed notes on this game at a later date. I am still working on this game and checking current improvements and innovations. The time control was Game in 2hrs plus 30seconds added after every move.

Hello, this is my first miniture and I wanted to post it because it has a lot to do with opening development as most minitures do.

From time to time I ask that you post an instructive games with your notes to help the group improve as well as improve yourself through constructive feedback. I ask that everyone try to post your thoughts on the game in question regardless of your rating. I had groups like this before in face to face group and the whole group rating went up including the top rated members. Please tell me your thoughts about this idea. I will try to post one a game a week that is completed and I ask that everyone else does the same or at least comment on the game of the week. It will only take a little of your time and you do not have to give super-detailed notes (although I would love it), this is not meant to be free lessons just more cooperative sharing.

When you set goals you must also sit down and think about how to achieve those goals. When I joined chess.com my goals were to improve my chess, network with chessplayers, and maintain a rating between 1900-2000 (close to my national rating). I thought (and still to some extent believe) that I would be at a huge disadvantage because I have only 7 chess book and I don't use databases to play my openings (so there is no telling what I might do!) and how can I overcome these roadblocks. I studies my tactics for 2hrs per day since joining, took my time (usually about 5mins - 1hr per move opposed to my otb trying to beat ppl in my time delay) although I need to take more time in my future games. Then today just over a week after playing I reached the 1900 milestone as a reward for doing what I am suppose to do. I need new chess goals any suggestions?
