KOTH: That's exactly what it sounds like. King spams are much easier. Nobody will pay any attention to you anyway. 100-Check/Capture The King: Sac all of your pieces to everybody, points don't decide the game most of the time anyway, time does. WFT II: Get a queen and munch a 1500's back rank, you can tell in Anonymous games by looking at the fact that they obviously don't care about their time. Also, you can set up a bishop/queen cannon and get a free mate as soon as they flag. Crazy Queen War (Deleted Variant?): Basically everything was replaced by a queen. You just munch everything.

There are four main objective factors to consider, in no particular order: Beginner-Friendliness: the learning curve of the mode Complexity: nuances unrelated to time that can help stronger players beat weaker players Fragility: how much a troll or a quick resign/flag affects the game Flexibility: the number of different game-plans one can use to play for a win in the game mode Now for some analysis! This is not a ranking post. I am trying to single out the BEST hyper mode, not rank them. First, let's narrow it down to a few modes that can be compared deeply. We should remove all fairy piece variants as contenders. Although HOTH and The Four Horsemen and other fairy piece variants are cool, they all get an F for beginner-friendliness, for obvious reasons. Same goes for antichess hyper variants. Next: Let's remove the standard ones. The classic hyperbullet mode, but they have problems with beginner-friendliness and fragility. In particular, FFA gets C in beginner-friendliness and D in fragility. Teams gets F in beginner-friendliness and B in fragility. Solo gets D in beginner-friendliness and F in fragility. They are not exactly outstanding in the other fields either, so they go down. Now, I could go through all the niche unpopular hyper-variants, but ain't nobody got time for that. Instead, let's just remove them all as contenders; they are unpopular for a reason, and that reason is usually about beginner-friendliness, flexibility, and boringness. I didn't include boringness as an actual criterium because it's ultra-subjective, but when a variant is unpopular, that means most people think it's boring. So we are left with only the popular hyper-variants. What are these? The famous infamous hYbEr FiEsTa, and the legendary supersonic-submarine-powering War for Throne II (how's Zambia?), both of which score highly in all criteria. Onto the final comparison! Beginner-friendliness: WFT II gets an A. Flexible opening choices and short moves allow beginners to pick up the game easily, not needing superfast mice or internet speed. They can watch one game, and understand that the main idea is to shove stuff towards the center. On the other hand, Hyper Fiesta gets a B. Same short moves, but there are only a few openings that are playable; everything else is pretty bad. Someone observing a high-level fiesta game might not be able to understand how to play as high-levels play very differently than beginners, and the game is based around interaction with others. Complexity: WFT II gets a B. When I first saw the position, I would've given it an F, but there are surprisingly many nuances in the deceptively simple position. That being said, most of them are about wasting your left's time, so I can't give it an A. Hyper Fiesta gets an A; there are many, many tricks (I might make a post about them sometime) that require experience to carry out. Flexibility: WFT II has 2 main ways to win. Flagging, and KOTH. Mating does not count since that is only a way of getting/securing 2nd. Not great, B. Hyper Fiesta has flagging, points by trades, or advanced king-hunt tricks. 3 ways, Fiesta gets an A. Fragility: WFT II is basically the king of this (pun not intended). If people resign, the game doesn't get affected too much because the game is based on KOTH, not mates. It's hard to imagine how someone would troll in WFT II, and it gets A. Fiesta has a lot of room for trolling. Although some of us like that, it puts fiesta at B since it doesn't mind resignations. WFT II: A, B, B, A Hyper Fiesta: B, A, A, B In my opinion, flexibility is the most important of these criteria, and fiesta is more popular. But it's pretty subjective; you can call either of these the best variant. After all, fiesta never powered any underwater transportation devices. Feel free to add more criteria or disagree with evaluations in the comments. Also, tell me what you think the best hyperbullet mode is, and why.

Noobs, are you tired of always losing against high rated people? I can show you how to get your rating to at least 1650 and maybe 1900. First, ENABLE PREMOVE! THIS IS THE GOLDEN RULE TO WINNING HYPER GAMES. Go to SETTINGS>> Enable Premoves. Second, premove moves that make your king safe. Also, be wary that you may blunder in the middlegame, but that is OK (unless you are playing hyper fiesta). Blundering in the middlegame is normal because everyone is premoving. Third, don't castle. If you castle, you are exposed to big threats. Fourth, optionally you can go for Scholar's mate. To do that, push your queen pawn (the pawn in front of your queen) 3 squares (move your queen pawn up 2 squares for the 1st move and then another square). Then, put your light squared bishop directly in front of your king pawn so that you cannot push your pawn in front of your king. Then, move your queen so that it blocks the bishop from a diagonal. If your victim is not careful, mate him by moving your queen so that your queen is checking the colour king you are attacking (if you are red, you attack blue and vice versa; if you are yellow, you attack green and vice versa). That's all. Focus on king safety (or go for 4 player chess scholar's mate), PREMOVE EVERY MOVE (unless you are red because you cannot premove quick enough on the first move, in which case move quickly to avoid losing more than 0.8 seconds red had 0.8 seconds more than everyone else). IF you cannot premove you need to quickly move or you will run out of time. Make easy moves to premove. You don't want to make really hard moves to premove. That way you will run out of time. Also, check people. They will run out of time. If you can, predict your opponent's moves. That way you will be faster. Hope this 'guide' helps!

First time trying to make a variant guide on a variant I know literally nothing about Here's some tips for beginners. If anyone who is actually good at WFT wants to add something, that would be great lol 1. Openings don't matter. Just capture both pawns at the start, and you can't really go wrong. If you are teamed and have two captures available, always capture whatever is closer to your king. 2. Go for the center. You can usually mate your left by throwing kings at them, but that gets you 2nd at most (unless you already have central influence, which is rare), which is not the goal (well it is for a certain person, but whatever). 3. In a game with multiple decent players, you will often see that many players have a few kings in the center, but no one really controls it. In that case, it's time to start harassing your left. The most obvious way is to threaten to capture a hanging king and hope they premove. This is only really advisable if that king is in the center, where it actually matters. Most of the kings don't matter. A strategy employed by almost all of the top WFT II hyper players is to threaten a king-trade with their left, and after the left premoves, the player moves their king back. The left usually will premove a recapture to the trade, but since the player didn't take the trade, the left loses quite a bit of time. 4. Well, I already mentioned premoves. If you have not, go to the 4PC settings and enable premoves. This applies to all hyper game modes, not just WFT II. You should be premoving almost every move. Guard against the strategies in 3. by making your kings protect each other and preparing to make a quick non-recapture move in case your right is a strong player threatening a capture. 5. If a player to your right resigns/flags, don't go after it with two kings. If you do so, you risk driving it towards your opposite, who may steal the mate. Instead, just go with one king. Give checks in a way that gives the dead king the most chance not to capture you. Even if it does, it will be moving closer to you with the capture, and you can send another king. Kings aren't really important (Kings aren't really important - a chess player). If the player is to your left, you should only go after it if it is clear that your opposite is not doing so. They usually will though; keep in mind that they are your left now, so you can use tricks on them to seize more control of the center. 6. Never go for early KOTH. You can sometimes surprise people and get an easy win, but you will lose more than you win. Strong players will have fake kings in the center anyway, so it won't be possible. 7. Try to interact as little as possible with your right. They will be harassing you the whole game; don't offer trades or anything. If they spam-attack you with a bunch of kings, don't let them get too many checks. Of course, you might fall low on time, so just try to trade as much as possible to not get last. You can also move your king towards the left to make it more difficult to kill. This usually only happens when you mess up the opening and the right gets 2-3 sacrifice checks on you. If you're careful, you'll be fine unless your right is a super-troll (like a certain person...). 8. Play according to your opponents. I mentioned that playing for 2nd is bad, but if you are against a really strong player, you can play for 2nd. Just throw kings at your left. If your left is a really strong player, try to trade as much as possible and otherwise play normally. Of course, you can still play for first, though that is unlikely to work. Really strong indicates 2600+, usually top 3 of the quickthrone leaderboard. 9. When there are two players left, whoever has more center control wins. If center control is balanced, whoever has more time wins. If time is balanced, the last strategy in 3. will make someone win. You are their left and they are your left, so you can play tricks but you have to be wary of getting tricked as well. Flood the center with kings, and bring your real king there too once you have 6-8 fake ones. The threat of KOTH will force the opponent to not premove, so they will flag. 10. In a few situations, your opposite will expect you to team on one of your sides. If this is the quickthrone tournament, do whatever you want. Typically it's a good idea to team your left, but not your right, since your right can punish you for it later. But if it's a random queue, you should always team. Odds are that is the only WFT II hyper game going on, so you may have to play with the same people multiple times. If someone doesn't like how you play, they can try to revenge-attack you, and 4PC players are known to be extremely petty. This isn't a problem in the quickthrone tournament since you can just wait for the queue to fill up and join the next game, as there are often 3+ games going on at once. disclaimer: I'm not actually good at this lmao. This is from spectating. Anyone have any additions?

1. please add hyper! 2. could you make tips? (from the things you learned when you played hyper) 3. please unblock me, I can’t comment on your posts 4. this club would still need the “hyper fiesta club” because of the link they give u in HF games. 5. maybe we could make another club? (I made a club in November, and I got 35 members, but I need some players that could actually do it) this is what I think about the great idea about expanding this club, thanks,—@GMdsgchess2020
It's kind of weird that there is a hyper fiesta club, but no general hyper club. We have decided to expand this club to include all hyper. The forum thread system allows you to follow discussions about hyper games that you are interested in and ignore threads about hyper games you don't care about. There aren't many negative consequences of expanding, and it would definitely help the club grow. So from now on, we will be "The Hyper Club". You can still discuss fiesta, but now also hyper-standard and other hyper-variants. I also think it would be interesting to make a "favorite hyper-game" poll thread.

I vaguely remember being #1 for like 15 minutes when Hyperbullet was first released, but my peak ranking in the last few months is #50 at 2320.
