Ok I guess this is basically a blog but I don't want to make my own blog so I'll just post it in scattered club. Also if you actually thought you would learn something from this post, you're getting scammed, all the games here are too trash lmao Last year I also tried to get people from my school to come to state championship, but no one in my grade showed up, so our school didn't place even though I got ez 5-0. This year I managed to drag someone along (I'll call this person "🤓"). My sister also played, as well as two juniors, who I will call 😏 and 🤔. My sister is like 700, and the emoji people are all around 1600. The two juniors mostly went because we were all friends and they wanted to play; I didn't really expect them to win anything because there were two 2200s in their section. However, for 10th grade, my goal was for me to get 5 points, my sister to get 2 points, and 🤓 to get 3-4 points. Anyway, apparently the old TDs like Hal and Noreen (tbh I don't know if these are spelled correctly) had retired since last year. Normally, the games started like an hour late, but this time, they started on time since they had new TDs, so we were super late for the first round. However, my opponent was dumb: not only did he not know how to set his own clock, he didn't think to ask someone for help 💀 Yeah so normally I would annotate my games but it's literally not worth annotating... opponent just played like trash Round 1 results: I won trivially. My sister thought it would be funny to play the worst possible move, so she threw the game like @BananaPeelEater throws multiclub arenas. 🤓 was up two pawns and lost because he is a 🤓. 😏 lost as well for some reason. Note that both 🤓 and 😏 were playing against lower-rated players. Lastly, 🤔 signed up for the wrong tournament (westfield quads 💀) and didn't get paired, but the TDs hunted down some guy who got a bye, and 🤔 managed to beat that guy. After round one, we sorta just fked around, bought a bunch of overpriced drinks, and walked around doing nothing. We sorta just wandered downstairs into the playing area and realized that the round started 7 minutes ago... Yeah so this game is about as interesting as mixed integration strategies AP Calculus C problems... opponent just played terribly. I spent a total of3 minutes over the course of the entire game Round 2 results: I won trivially. My sister hung a rook and lost. 🤓 won because his opponent was trash. 😏 somehow lost to a 400 because he was tilted. 🤔 lost as well but I didn't really see how because watching them play is too painful. After round 2 I had a lot of time so I bought lunch; the tournament was held at Brookdale Community College, so I guess we were eating cafeteria food that was served in community college. They had these suspicious-looking blobs of tinfoil, and I didn't actually know what it was, but I couldn't only buy french fries, so I had to get one of the lumps. It was apparently a hot dog wrapped in more layers of aluminum foil than the number of gallons of nitroglycerin @BillBelichick01 has in his house. After I ate the food (which was pretty mid) I went outside to touch grass, and then it was time for the next round. Yes, another Caro. My opponent actually offered a draw in the middle of the game (he was losing). Other than that, really not much to say here. It's not an interesting game. Round 3 results: I won trivially. My sister was up an exchange but somehow blundered a rook. 🤓 beat an unrated in like 5 minutes. 😏 finally stopped being braindead and won a game. 🤔 won his game as well. So this time we were kinda tired of being late every game so we just camped in the tournament room until the next round. At this point, several small demons started running around and playing an abominable amalgamation of tag, hide and seek, WWII trench warfare, and among us, while screaming like @BananaPeelEater screams when she sees a soda can. Now you see, this is a community college, not a nuke-proof bunker, even though we were miles below the surface for some reason, so the doors were not remotely soundproof. People were getting kinda annoyed, so I asked 🤓's dad to tell the kids to shut up since 🤓's dad looks like a KGB agent. It kinda worked, but only for 5 minutes. Anyway, next round. Shocking, I know. My opponent has a name! That's because he's 2200, so he deserves a name. Not that he played well, he really didn't. The position was equal out of the opening because I played the opening really passively, but then he just kinda let me run over him for the rest of the game. Round 4 results: I won trivially. My sister somehow won because her opponent hung a queen. 🤓 offered a draw in a better position because his IQ is lower than the amount of games @timmaylivinalie has won. 😏 won again bc opponent was utter garbage. 🤔 lost because he is utter garbage. Nothing to say about time in between rounds because there was basically no time in between rounds since my 4th round actually took pretty long. Everyone from my school was just kinda crowded around my board when they were putting up the pairings, and people were staring at us like the banana club stared at @frog 's suspicious messages. Round 5! My opponent was obviously extremely terrified of me, which makes no sense considering that he has no way of seeing my hand grenades. As a result he played terribly. Round 5 results: I won trivially. My sister had a winning pawn endgame and somehow it turned into KQ vs KQ, but her opponent wouldn't accept a draw probably because he was sexist. Somehow the dude hung his queen, becoming the first person in history to lose KQ vs KQ. My sister checked him, "forcing" a queen trade, but instead of trading or protecting the queen with the king, the guy hung his queen.🤓 lost, getting him 2.5/5. As I said, I hoped he would get 3-4 points, so it was almost as disappointing as when I found out that @ScatteredWealth is not actually a pile of 10,000 disorganized pieces of currency. 😏 lost again because he is cringe. 🤔 won a losing position, giving him like 5th place or something with 3/5 and good tiebreaks. Meanwhile I ended 5/5 and my sister ended 2/5, and our school won with 9.5 total points, a 1.5 point lead over the 2nd place school.

Hi! Sorry that I gave you a heart attack on the last one. But here is some openings I would recommend! White: 1. e4 Most players play this. It gives you a great, dynamic position if you play: The Ruy Lopez So if you look further into the Ruy Lopez, you have good improvement and positions that you can play very easily. The Italian The Italian is like the Ruy Lopez, but a little different. 1. d4 The Main Line 1. d4 is a dynamic line. It is great for attacking. Black: The Sicilian Defense! It is a great attacking opening and has some advantage of the bishop pair. The Sicilian Defense has a lot of use, but it depends on what line you use. That's all for this time!
