Well, I have tried to revive the Grob Opening through a move I used when I played the Grob years ago. I will give my theory I have to date and hopefully you can add any improvements as needed. I was thinking of playing this at my next tournament. My new move is 2.e3. My theory is based off of my game experience playing the Grob. All the lines are playable for white, but not necessarily equal. Despite this, none of the lines is outright losing. Hopefully I can convince a few more players that the Grob is better than previously thought. 1.g4 d5 (1...e5 2.e3 Nc6 [2...b6 3.Bg2; 2...d5 3.d4 exd4 4.Qxd4 Nc6 5.Qa4; 2...Qf6 3.Nc3] 3.Nc3; 1...d6 2.e3 e5 3.d3; 1...c5 2.e3 d6 [2...d5 3.Nc3] 3.d4; 1...g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.g5; 1...c6 2.Bg2 d5 transposes; 1...g5 2.d4 d5 3.Bxg5 Bxg4 4.Nc3 Nc6 5.Qd2 Bg7 6.0-0-0 Qd7 7.Bg2 0-0-0 8.Bxd5 Nxd4 9.Nf3) 2.Bg2 (2.e3 e5 [2...h6 3.d4; 2...e6 3.d4 c5 4.Nc3] 3.d4 Nd7 4.Bg2 c6 5.Nc3) 2...Bxg4 (2...c6 3.h3! e5 [3...h5 4.gxh5 Rxh5 5.d4 Nf6 6.Nd2 Bf5 7.Ngf3 e6 8.Nf1 Rh8 9.Ng3] 4.d4 [4.d3 Bd6 5.Nf3 Ne7 6.e3] 4...e4 5.c4 [5.Bf4!? untested] 5...Bd6 6.Nc3 Ne7 7.Bg5 f6 8.Bd2 0-0 9.Qb3 Kh8 10.0-0-0; 2...e5 3.d4 exd4 4.Qxd4 Nc6 5.Qxd5) 3.c4 e6 (3...c6 4.cxd5 cxd5 5.Nc3 Nf6 [5...e6? 6.Qa4+] 6.Qb3; 3...dxc4 4.Bxg7 Nd7 5.Bxa8 Qxa8 6.f3) 4.Qb3 Nf6 5.Qxb7 Nbd7 6.cxd5

I played this in a blitz game. Ok I move the paw the wrong number of spaces but hey, check this out
Hello Unorthodox chess players, According to Fritz, f3 is the second worse move on the board. Can you guess what it considers the worst? (Hint: I love this opening and have played it three times in a row, and won all three. Not a very good hint, huh)

Probably the least played response to 1 e4, but is there something there?

I have started a team match starring Gedult's Opening, 1. f3. So far, no team has accepted, but it's only been a few minutes. There will be a minimum of 24 players before I look our team (or the other team's maximum if it's <24). I know Gedult's opening is considered one of the worst openings for white. But all unorthodox openings are considered bad in a way. That's why we play them. We want to prove people wrong. We want to show them that when you know how to handle an opening, any opening, you can do great things with it.

I know somebody asked in the Notes whether the Danish Gambit would be deemed unorthodox. My immediate answer is no, only because it has some following and still gets mentioned in most opening manuals. But I'm curious what else is considered unorthodox? I have Schiller's book and I'd even question whether the Latvian Gambit belongs in there. Perhaps we should consider compiling a list, although it might be too lengthy.

For those with Unlimited Texting on your cell phones, we can get a correspondence game going through txt. My number is 6182145954. Simply send a text saying 1. e4 or whatever you choose, and I'll respond with my move 1. e4 c5 for example. Make sure to put all the moves up to that point in the text so we can replay them on a real board if we choose. I figure this way is as good as any to play chess!

I've been getting beat up on the message boards because I've been defending 1. Na3 as a playable opening move. As expected, I don't have any followers. I'd like to start a Vote game opening with the Sodium Attack. Also, if anyone wants to challenge me to a game, please do and remind me to open with 1. Na3 and I will. Thanks.
okay guys and girls we have been very inactive of late so i am taking any suggestions from anyone on how to get more active i would like this to be a group effort. my suggestions are we post more annotated games and you guys better get ready to participate in a lot more team matches with my thinking so anyone else think of anything.

I am a wannabe UCO player, but I do not know what would be a suitable UCO repertoire. I have the following criteria for openings that I want to play: The opening must have some semblance of respectability. I am a tactical player. I am awful at slow manoevering and complex positional games. I am awful at gambits. I played the latvian a few times and got clobbered. I cannot play hypermodern chess. That is, if I want to last 30 moves or more. Oh yeah, and the stranger an opening looks, the better. Could someone please give me some suggestions?
