JohnHS, the federation considered that, but we decided against it since the same 2 people would be challenging Martin0 every time. We wanted to give more opportunities to the players who haven’t been given them. ![]()
How is the Bulldog World Champion decided?
Then make them wait 3 cycles before rechallenging. Then new players will get in, and problem solved.
Also, the top players get shaken up a lot. The only consistent one is Martin0. Number 2 has been evert823, HorribleTomato, Junebug444, CaptainTugwash, TheGreatAuk, rychessmaster1, and others.

I think pretty much the existing system will have the same results. The 2 or 3 players with the highest elo automatically get into the (4-player) tournament. One or two players get in by selection. But it's limited to four-players, so the next challenge can happen sooner. Even a 4-player tournament can take 2-3 months to finish. (I also think that's about the amount of time a WC should deserve to be able to "rest" between challenges).

Here is what I truly think the leaderboard SHOULD be
1. Thegreatauk
2. Martin0
3. Captaintugwash
4. Rychessmaster1
5. Junebug444(yes you did beat me but Just barely)
6. Evert823
7. JohnHS
8. Waredude
9. Horribletomato
10. Holographwars
It seems like everyone thinks I'm way underrated. Why is that?
Are the canidates picked yet?
The bulldog chess federation has selected four players to play in a "Candidate Tournament", which will decide the challenger to play against
World Champion
@Martin0 for the crown.
The four players are @thegreatauk, @rychessmaster1, @Waredude, and @HorusTheThird.
Some specific details of the tournament are still being confirmed, but do these players agree to play? The nominal game is bulldog with witch, and the winner of the 4-game knockout is to challenge Martin0 for the crown.
(fyi: two players were chosen by elo score, and two by a candidate selection process with a preference given to strong players who have not yet made a challenge for the crown).
Here's the format of the games:
<game 1> thegreatauk (White) vs. HorusTheThird (Black)
<game 2> rychessmaster1 (White) vs. WareDude (Black)
<game 3> Final of <1> and <2>.
The winner of <game 3> challenges WC Martin0 for the bulldog crown.
HorusTheThird is currently away, and hasn't confirmed he is playing yet. Game 2 can begin, if one of the players can mod. Please label the game "2018 candidate game (rychessmaster1 - WareDude)" or something like that.
If neither player can mod let me know, and I can do it. However I'll be travelling from tomorrow to end of July, so my response may be slow for awhile.
The way we choose the players by rating is:
A: The highest rated player that did not participate in the last challenge game.
B: The highest rated player that did not participate in the last 2 challenge games or the last candidates.
So A excluded me and captaintugwash (last challenge game)
B excluded me, captaintugwash, Junebug444 (second last challenger), HorribleTomato (last candidate game).
A became thegreatauk
B became rychessmaster1
For the next candidates A will exclude:
Me and winner of current candidates
B will exclude:
Me, captaintugwash, thegreatauk, rychessmaster1, Waredude, HorusTheThird.
I've been struggling to catch up on all the games. Can someone confirm I have this right:
1) Auk won against Horus (Auk played White).
2) Ry won against WareDude (Ry played White).
Both Auk and Ry won as White, so I'm not sure who would get White for the final. I think Auk's game was finished sooner, so if there is no other way to decide, I would give White to Auk.
I can moderate the game, but would just like to confirm my understanding is correct. The winner of Auk vs. Ry will then go on, and be eligible to challenge Martin0 for the crown.
Are we ready for "Auk vs Ry" to start?
That seems very arbitrary to me.
