Key differences between an opening and a delayed version of it?
To my understanding when an opening has a delayed version it's because of the flexibility against popular responses, also because as the move is non committal it allows you to change your original opening plan. Most of the times the two openings transpose anyway.
For example the delayed alapin is characterized by the move 2. Nf3. Am i missing more details on their differences? Why does one choose one version over the other?
Openings?
As black, try Pirc/ Kings Indian against literally anything. As white, try the Italian Game.
tbh at your level you dont need to play such solid stuff, Try a few gambits like danish gamebit, Ponziani and caro kann or scandinavian, etc. I feel like pirc is an opening you should play only after 1200
ponziani is great for traps, apparently they don't help u improve tho (traps I mean)
because of this I am learning Italian and using Ponziani for blitz games
