I want to join for experience anyways. 

If I remember correctly, the candidates tournament starts with four players - two with highest ELO (and haven't just lost a challenge), and two others based on merit (trending up, strong sportsmanship, spectacular play, etc.).

The official decision comes from the bulldog chess federation, but no problem to discuss here.

I have the high elo

Yes, @thegreatauk and @HolographWars qualifies by rating. We are discussing in the federation who to nominate.

Ok..... 

I intend to come back for another shot at Martin next year sometime. I don't think I can beat him, but he did overlook one move in his game with ry, which could have caused him problems. He's not invincible, and I know I can play a lot better than I did against him.

I kinda hope he holds his title until then. If I ever do win the title, I want to beat him to feel like I deserve it.

In the meantime, I intend to do my best to remain second best, and I'll do that by beating auk and ry. That's how I restore my reputation!

The four players for the candidates selection tournament haven't been decided yet. Once the players are selected we will find mods. Also, decisions like this are never rushed, so please wait a few weeks.

The candidates selection is for the best players only. I don't think you're near the top in terms of playing strength. But you can still play against anyone who might want to play. Just leave a comment here:
