Chess Up 2 board I coming out!

I honestly don't know but someone will reply who does.

Frankly, I got this mainly because I would never want to have to use a phone for it to work with online play.

Rsava

@androp - Yes, they have stated on Discord and in the Chessup community forums that the phone app will still be available and in some instances, necessary. Here is the quote from the Discord channel:

<@709821110132146296> Hi there! Yes, WiFi for connecting to Chess . com and Lichess to play games. If a user wishes to analyze their games for post game analysis, run a firmware update, etc they will need to use the ChessUp app. The app will never go away, all the same features will still be there!

Rsava

In addition, this was posted on the Kickstarter comments page by Jeff from BryghtLabs:

For ChessUp 2 - the app will mainly be used as the (1) video/voice player for lessons (2) heavy post-game analysis tools and history (3) establishing credentials/logins

ChessUp 2 will not even need the app for firmware updates as we will just get those over WiFi (we switched this recently). (NOTE - this contradicts/updates what was posted on the Discord channel)

All game play modes and even some light game review tools are built into ChessUp 2. The app is an optional part of the experience.

Very nice thank you so much!

I received an email from ChessUp 2. It looks like it was a success and will be shipping in December. If you order it now it says Estimated delivery between Fri, Dec 6 and Fri, Dec 20.

Not bad at all. It looks like we are in for a very nice New Year.

Totally stoked. Just ordered mine. I've been waiting a long time to get a board that fits on my desk next to my monitor and this looks perfect. My DGT board is too big, and unfortunately, the Chessnut air + just had way too much interference and issues. Sweet.

So, those of us who opted in at the introductory (whatever it was called) price several months ago...aren't we supposed to get an email or something asking us to send our addresses for it to be sent to? I...don't think I've received anything.

TundraMike

@Cornfed I received an email the other day and I am sure they already have my ship to address. Maybe they will send an email affirming the address from the Kickstarter site?? If I were them I would do so since a few people probably moved since they ordered it.

I've gotten an email or two. "ChessUp 2 is officially here!" and today "Get ChessUp 2 at a special price!".

But that's it.

JustATinyBitCrunchy

I ordered it today on the official website and am anticipating its arrival excitedly! I had to work excess to save up the cash but having an eboard will make chess all the more enjoyable. The hardest part of this will be waiting for it to arrive. Also, I think the handbag though expensive should be worth the money as well! Of course, since I don't have it yet, I can't give reviews, but I will say the original ChessUp was spectacular!

TundraMike

Another email yesterday. The ship date is getting closer. It won't be long now. grin

In about 30 days it might be at my front door.

hey Mike, where are these emails from?

I ordered on Kickstarter and the only ones I get are from Kickstarter and I have not had one in a while (although I do read the updates and comments there regularly, and they seem to be right on track).

Just wondering where your emails are originating from.

For everyone asking about delivery times - all packages will be on their way in December. Most locations early December. Europe will be mid-December (*pending any unexpected freight issues). Europe is a bit later solely because the ocean freight journey is longest to Europe. I will update Kickstarter and IGG with any updates.

Hi, Rsava, they are coming from support.......info@bryghtlabs.com

Possibly I signed up for information on their website. But I do know they will be arriving in December.

The doc workers' temporary agreement is up I believe on 1/15/2025. So that shouldn't affect it.

TundraMike

I don't think it comes with extra queens but not 100% certain. I see where you can buy additional pieces for $49.99 (one of each...8 pieces) but I would rather buy one extra queen in each color.

*If it doesn't come with extra queens can you add an option for a queen in each color? That shouldn't be too expensive since it is two extra pieces vs. eight pieces. Maybe $15??

ChessUp_2

Comes with 34 piece set - includes extra queen for each side.
Promotion Pack is for having fun - 3 queen positions, etc. Also just to have spares.
We will also sell individual pieces - but shipping is the killer there. It is almost the same price to ship one piece vs eight pieces. So that is why we sell the promotion pack as 8 pieces.

TundraMike

Thank you, Jeff, I am so looking forward to chessup_2. It is so nice I can just use the internet and not have to use Bluetooth.

To all that did not jump onboard initially, this will be the second board I have from BryghtLabs (I currently have the Chessup 1) - you should definitely consider the Chessup products if you are interested in an e-board.

IMHO, this company is really top-notch. The Kickstarter campaign is one of the best I have been part of, with detailed, honest updates; quickly answered questions on the KS site; and an overall very well-run campaign. Support (the very few times I have needed any) is very good and quick to respond.

I own quite a few e-boards and use them to play all my games. I like the Chessup products and really looking forward to using the Chessup 2 with no other device requirement.

And who knows, I may even play a few games of checkers on Christmas day ....

Rsava has the eboard experience to make his opinion matter to anyone thinking of getting one.

I honestly cannot wait until I get mine. Mine says it is supposed to come between December 4th and December 11th. My birthday is that week so what a nice birthday present!happy
