GREAT IDEA! which ever works for you.
BTW. Were u able to get ALL the features of CM 9ooo to work?
Actually, I didn't check. That should be something to discuss in the new thread.
This is an old thread. Chessmaster is the game I first learned chess from. Is there a Chessmaster for Windows 10?

Unfortunately, no, and most people believe there never will be a new version for Windows 10. So we're forced to get it working in Windows 10 as best we can with duct tape and baling wire... ;-)
...or run it in an older version of Windows, either on a separate hard drive or a virtual machine...
Sorry for awakening an old thread. I have a legal copy of Chessmaster 9000 which I cannot get to install on Windows 10. I see that others have successfully installed Chessmaster Grand Master Edition on Windows 10. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can download the grand master edition?
Thanks. --Leif
Amazon?
Thanks for the response. I took a look at Amazon. They have prices for used versions ranging in price from $90 to $150. That's a little ridiculous. I was hoping for something more reasonable in price.
Thanks,

I have several chessmasters. Currently on running 9000 and 10 on win xp, win 7 and win 8. All patches done. No problems. The issues I have with 9000 is that in a tournament you have to wait for the computer play the games instead of just doing a fast result, the cd nad and no good 2d boards and the stats are pretty poor compared to 10. I have seen several threads out there stating having trouble installing in win 10. In this case it might be worthwhile to pick up a laptop or desktop with an older operating system. Chessmaster series is still by far (in my opinon) the best software to play against. The lesson sets are excellent - especially for beginners. It is a shame that the software has been abandoned.
Good heavens! I LOVE CM 9000 far better than ANY other version. O wise one! HOW did you get CM 9000 to work?? I tried EVERYTHING I Could! Yes the "old-games link looks interesting; " did indeed install CM 9000 however some features would still not work.
I'm not sure how much detail I can provide, but I can try. Maybe one of us should start a new thread specifically for Chessmaster 9000 so that we don't have a single thread discussing two different versions? We could either start it in "Help & Support" or "Chess Equipment" - I'm not sure which would be better. Do you want to create the thread, or do you want me to do it?
