First off, I apoligize for starting yet another thread on you know who, but I'd never seen this video until today and that suprised me!

Here it is! 60 minutes does an incredible job: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc_v9mTfhC8

It's about 12 minutes long! It's time well spent, enjoy!

Oh by the way! If you do watch it, post your thoughts below if you want others to see it as well! More comments brings more views! Tongue Out

Dang! That's a shame... Maybe it only plays in the US?

samtoyousir

I dont think it's a carlsen thing, I think chess really doesnt have the exposure in general! I mean, I think a big part of the decline in intrest in America (apart from the shorter attention spans) is the fact that America doesnt really have any big shots playing the game. Sure, Naka's good, but he's nothing like the monster Fischer was. EVERYBODY's heard of Bobby Fischer, but Naka is a different story. FACT: If Carslen was American, you can bet the chess coverage would increase expontially.

Texting, HDTV, Blu Ray and the opposite sex is why it is down.

samtoyousir

lol quite possibly! Out of curiousity, what struck you to post on this thread?

MrDamonSmith

I saw that too. It was a good story. Well put together.

Yep, I cant believe I'd never heard of it. This kind of thing usaually gets big coverage in the chess world when chess goes mainstream.
