i usually say "I hope you enjoyed the free chess lesson"
Nobody says "Good Game" anymore!

We usually don't say gg for one game, but usually if we play alot of games with the same person and we end we say ggs.

I only say gg when I lose because he outplayed me(not a blunder I overlooked) or when the losing part says gg. Otherwise I feel like I'm mocking him.

We don't say "good game" if you don't play smart. We also say "fu*k you", "you co*ksu*ker" etc. if you really play good game. Depends also on the level of the opponent. If he is much below to your rating he typically says good game, but if he is much higher he won't, that's not because they are jealous but they did experience same defeat earlier and not charming for them.
I always say gg, whether I win, lose, or draw. I think it's just polite, like shaking hands after a game.

Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that on v3 nobody ever has the courtesy to say (text) "good game" or even gg anymore? Is it because "focus mode" doesn't support it or is it because people are using machines (engines) and think no human interaction is necessary? If you are going to beat me anyway, at least have some sportsmanship and say thanks. Sheesh.
Excellent point! In fact there, just as many blog sites have a "like" button for comments, chess, com should institute a "Thanks for a good game!" button players can press that appears after the game is over.

Do YOU LouStule say gg?
Also, I don't really say gg, win or lose. People can indeed think you're being an asshole.
Yes, but I use "focus mode"in live chess and half the time the opponent has "left the chat room" before I have a chance to get there and type it. I never thought someone would be offended if I typed "gg". Who knew?
It doesn't bother me if my opponant give me a gg/thanks for the game etc or not, so you shouldn't let it bother you also.
