Rematch or not? a question of fairplay?

A chess world champion said if you want a rematch (revenge) go for it! Fine but too many people only play one game only (and play someone ealse instead). This prevents having a second chance or even go until a tie breaker game, which is fun.

True. It's hard not to just automatically click the new game button when you want to play another game right away.

Many players may have limited time to play and can only commit to one game.

I’ve noticed you’re no where near the level of a world champion, and should therefore do the exact opposite of what they say.

A second chance ? You have thousands of chances, with thousands of other players.

You just have to accept the fact that many are interested in a single game, and whether they win or lose it, they prefer to change opponents. Chess is a game, everyone has fun as they want.

Here is my genuine proposal in order to improve chess, sportmanship, and society:

All those who refuse a rematch (ooops, that's me), let's burn them alive by hunging them by the toes on top of a rusted guillotine oiled with genetically modified palm oil and give them more of that global warning. And lemon juice in their eyes. And call hem a bunch of facist commies. And check if they are not phobic something or such. You never know. Greedom for all.

yes some people only have time for one game but most of the time they play with someone else right after; So it is more a willingness not to play rematch as the Master advised we should for the pleasure and respect. A rematch is like life or death, it is thrilling.

Pawnstarshinz

I usually play only one or two games a day, and review that game straight after, so in case you come up against me, that's my reason for not having a replay. Why care?

Arcticon_Tiger

Usually I only have time for one game. If I have time for more, I accept rematch requests. At least, if I've won or drawn I accept rematch requests; I'm not taking the W and running if I have time for another. If I lost, it depends. Are they trying to farm me for rating points, or do they genuinely think a rematch will be good for both of us? If I get a rematch request that I can't accept, I explain that in the chat, but there's no guarantee my opponent sees it.

for the pleqaure of a rematch, another chance to play together and iy is calles revenge in a chess way

ChessAddictLoggingOff

it is certainly not a question of fairplay. no one owes you a rematch. whatever reason they have is hardly your concern. don't overthink it.

JBarryChess

I generally don't do rematches when I win. The reason being that in the past EVERYTIME I agreed to a rematch I lost. So, it occurred to me that the opponents were either using a second account and had a much higher rating than indicated in the account I was playing against, or they did not get their cheating engine setup in time for the first game lol.

Today I asked for a rematch after I lost (we both blundered in the first game to make the game a farce) so we played again and I lost, but it was a good game.

Daily games are better for rematches I think.

Once I beat you, you no longer exist. So when you send a rematch request, I remind myself I am the only consciousness that truly exists, so I ignore it and go back to the solipsistic nightmare that is my life Figment says what?

The best is to play in 3 games. Chess is a serious pleasure matter.angry

Many people refuse a second game and play with someone else? isn't it unfair since it prevents a rematch and a Revenge as said Anand, we should go for it!
