After a month of waiting, the pieces were delivered Sunday morning. This is the most I’ve ever paid for chess pieces , but I wanted a nice set of pieces to go along with my Colorado Woodworker board.

I love the knights, these are the Player's Edition Sinquefield Cup pieces.

Beautiful! Always a pleasure to see the Sinquefield pieces. The price is expensive, but remember, an engraved $150 (HoS retail) Mahogany box is also included. Plus, there's a 20% off coupon available. The set breaks down to about $280.

Out of curiosity, do you have a pic of the certificate? I'd love to see which signatures are on there for 2022.

Here are few more pics

I haven’t unpacked the box yet, the certificate has all the signatures including Magnus.

Congrats chessreader!! Great set along with an interesting back story. I was always curious whether this type of set has the dgt resonators? Do you know by chance? Also would you mind posting the signatures when you have time? Would be cool to check out.

Gorgeous on every level! I hope you get much pleasure from that gem of a combo(board and set).

And Hans signature too?

I won't post the hi-res photos since they are not mine but, a Facebook/Chess Collectors group user has posted photos of their recently delivered, DGT 2022 Sinquefield Cup Official Chess Pieces. Set #1 of 5. Used in the actual tournament.

The signed Round sheet indicates their particular set (#1 of 5) was used by Carlsen/Niemann in the infamous Round 3. Wow.

It's a private Facebook group. From what I remember it was pretty easy to just click and join to become a member. Search: "Chess Collectors"

@Chessreader156 - congratulations - a wonderful set balancing design with excellent playability: utility and beauty. Lovely stuff. 👍

Thanks, Powderdigit, for me it is all about those knights, my set is the basic Player's Edition, I couldn’t justify getting one the more expensive sets. In a way you’re responsible for my purchase, I’ve been following your Four Knights of lockdown thread. Cheers!

@Chessreader - oh no! 😆🤦‍♂️ I am not sure whether I should apologise … while this set is beautiful, I hope I’m not encouraging an addiction such as my own … perhaps I should apologise to others in your life if I am a bad influence! 😳😊

Alas, there are worse addictions … and I’m glad you’re enjoying the thread.

This forum should be called CCA... chess collectors anonymous. The first step is to admit I have a problem.

Been saying this for year's evil

Addictions, what addiction? It’s my therapy, from still working during lockdown, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Though I'm looking at a Knubbel set next. In the meantime here a couple photos of the storage box for the set.

Cheers

P.S. Keep those great sets coming, Powderdigit your not an enabler but an inspiration.

be well

MCH818,
I have both the HoS and CB on my wishlists but l think I’m going to wait for a vintage set, like the one Bent Larsen is analyzing in this photo.
