New Staunton Castle Ceska Klubovka set and JLP board.S.C. did a fantastic job and the board was had at half price from Chesshouse.

Btw,I have the hots for one more Staunton Castle set....Their elegant Hallett Pieces.I don't have anymore room,without squeezing it in somewhere.....I hope I can hold off and let the feeling to get it dissipate....Twenty full size tournament sets,three travel and four full size boards ought to do it for me.

I really liked the HOS set a tiny bit more than the SC version,but wasn't wild about the $120 or so  difference,even with the B.F. discount.

There are absolutely no scratches or marks on the JLP board....It's dead mint.....Finally(unlike playing against some of you guys here) something went my way!

I thought the HOS CESKA had a bit more elongated King & Queen.

Maybe I'm wrong,but the SC version is very fine.Kudos to Mandeep.The SC Knights seem a bit nicer than HOS,but overall both sets are gems.

Yeah.I looked earlier.Guess Black Friday took it's toll.Good for HOS.

Drawers and under the Acrylic,with my Dragon Knight set in a locking leatherette coffer next to the table,but out of sight.I wanted one really fancy set.The D.K. set is not one to play blitz with...Ha 

I have boxes and coffers that fit in the drawers.....Squeezed for room if I want anymore sets.....I LOVE the Staunton Castle Hallett pieces though.

Btw,as I'd mentioned before,the JLP board is absolutely mint....You'd need an electron microscope to find a mark on it....Chesshouse had it up,but I bid and it wasn't accepted,but they came back with a 1/2 price of original new,so I took a chance.

It was an open box purchase,but after scrutinizing it(you know me) I can't find a mark on it.

Lucked out.....Apparently,Chesshouse is a very honest vendor.

Now this is good stuff buddy!!! And yes more good stuff soon with the beautiful Hallet set! What wood are you gonna take? Ebony or padauk? I didn't know it exists in padauk as well, saw that last week...omg....that padauk is a match in heaven with your JLP board I must say!

I'm happy for you this year BF works out for you, me not so much. I had many things in several baskets: flashlights, camera lenses, chess sets and boards but couldn't pull the triggers in the end oh well next year new chances.

Most of the time , It's stuff we do not need ! Mind you my deal for Black Friday , Was a new Macbook Air only because my late mac book pro no longer updates , Or runs on the new OS + Mac now uses a M2 chip . It just seems more complicated these days .

Yeah exactly, but it's Black Friday and I have always the feeling it's a missed chance not to buy during BF

Oooh you have a valid reason to buy a new Macbook Air!!! That's what I love about Apple, even though I have nothing from Apple, but they always make sure you have to buy something lol

Michael....I prefer the Padauk/Boxwood pieces on the Hallett set. No guarantees I'm getting it any time soon.

Tell me about wanting something new? Black Friday deals quelled the wife's attitude that I have enough toys,so the new board & set wasn't a tough sell to her......If I did not fear she'd stop cooking for me(she is a gourmet chef in the kitchen) I'd have bought another astro binocular,higher resolution headphones(mine are fine,but I'm a recovering audiophile) and an additional Sonos Play Five speaker for the rear channel.

Of course,the Hallett set is on the top of the list. God! It's sooo elegant.

Looks like retirement has slowed the fun down.
