I think it a nice early example just as Audioq stated. I have an early natural and red stain 94mm King version with shorter knight snouts like this. And the slightly convex queen crown on top.

nice to see you Ron

Thanks . I spend a lot more time on the FaceBook set collector's pages.

My favorite stain color for Black. Love, Love that dark red color. Reminds me of finely aged Cherry. Thanks for sharing your Chavet with us.

You're Welcome happy.png . There is one carved exactly like mine (but slightly smaller)  with green pieces on auction now. And it has the Chavet marked box. My box is wood and leather and has two very old locks.

@crusaderwabbet I appreciate it.

@Audioq Indeed. To which set do they belong? A Lardy?

I don't know if they are Lardy, Chavet, Roz or other. In the absence of markings I'll just call them a Jura set.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that your set is actually 89mm and the angle of the ruler/camera and the fact that it is behind the piece makes it look like it is 93mm. I just tried that with a piece that measures 89mm with an electronic callipers 😁. Sorry, I'm a bit bored today!

You were actually right. The guy who sold them didn´t get the angle right...should have thought about that when I bought them...

Here are the detailed measurments:

King: 89 mm (Height) / 35 mm (Diameter)

Queen: 75 mm / 35 mm

Rook: 50 mm / 28 mm

Knight: 61 mm / 33 mm

Bishop: 64 mm / 31 mm

Pawn: 45 mm / 26 mm

The pieces are in stellar condition I think. Here are some pictures (also in comparison to my German Knight Set with a kings height of 95mm). On a 55 mm Walnut/Maple Board and a 58 mm Mahagoni/Maple Board. How do you think do they fit on each board? I´d love them to be 95 mm in height.

They are still fantastic pieces. I think they look their best on a 50mm board. The size 5 set I show above is now probably my second favourite after the size 6 vintage B210.

Yeah I guess I´ll get one in the future as well.

Here is the size 6 for sale, which looks like it's from the same period as your new size 5. Needs a bit of a clean and re-felting mind you. This is a pre B210 set, a bit like Ronbo710s above but not in great condition.

Thanks for the hint. I wouldn't mind refelting or cleaning, but since there is also a weight missing, I'll be waiting a little longer, keeping my eyes open. Most of the Sets seem to be sold via eBay. Could you give an advice regarding how these sets are sold usually? This set for example is sold as antique Staunton set and not specifically as Chavet.

They could be described as anything to be honest. That one has "jaques" in the title (?). There is a B210 for sale as below. It all depends on how much you're willing to spend.
