Anyone have experience with JLP Chess Boards?

Sorry to disagree with you MCH! Chess was "not fun" losing about 12 games in a row to you.

My last two: a win and draw felt as good to me as the Jets or Giants winning The Super Bowl!

Any NFL fan knows the odds of that....Hmm? Except, maybe this year.wink

From my perspective, you were blessed to play against a stronger opponent who you could still consider a friend. You could still learn from each of those games and improve your game. If you were playing face-to-face, you could have even discussed the games OTB. It’s still the fastest way to learn… in-between some chess study, of course.

Listen....He'll not want me to give him such credit, being so laid back and modest ,but he always sends me the moves I blundered and often times a line I should have played(because I'm not the sharpest tack in the box,chesswise).....I do study....Half way through The Amateur's Mind, after a few relative beginner books, with How To Reassess Your Chess in the on deck circle.

Great hobby for a retiree.

Ha, MCH! I hope I'm not a bad influence on the wallet.

You’re right behind @TheOneCalledMichael in this regard. He has his local finds thread which influences my wallet negatively and he sends me links of interesting chess stuff. My wallet runs and hides every time.

I'm trying, I'm trying...one of this years I will get him to buy something that I say to you all!

I bought the SC Sinquefield set because of you. I was kind of on the fence about it.

You know, I'm still gloating about that achievement? Oh lord, to get something on his A list... getting Coca Cola recipe it's almost easier than that!

@TheOneCalledMichael I am a hard sell for sure unless it was on my list already. Then it is only about where I sign.

Any feedback on the Foldable Chessboard from Chesshouse?

They lay flat when playing and fold to make it easier to move around or to transport in large, rectangular chess bags (if you don’t like to tote around those larger, square, padded bags) - all while still enjoying the same JLP hardwood quality.

Well,my JLP 21inch Player's board came in from  Chesshouse.

I got a supposed deal,at a grand total of $199.00,which included free shipping and no tax.I bought this board under the premise of it being either an open box,or slightly used with what the seller described as small scratches in two places.

The Fedex guy never rang my bell and the board sat in bitter cold for hours.....So,remembering my old acoustic guitar days(long since gone due to hand pain) I let the box acclimate to room temp for a full day......Just opened it!

Bottom line....If I had bought this absolutely stunning "piece" for full list and brand new,I wouldn't say a word about the miniscule marks on this heirloom board!....It's that nice.

You need an electron microscope to see any tiny mark.....and....I'm really picky!

Btw,I don't find this board to be very heavy at all,but the craftsmanship is like that of a finely crafted wooden musical instrument.

What a great seller  Chesshouse is!.....I figure someone bought this and returned it for something more costly,or they opened the box to display the board for some time and were honest enough to sell it as a "deal item",slightly used.

I scored, unlike my NFL teams this past weekend....grin

So glad to hear everything turned out great, @magictwanger! As my grandmother would say, use it in good health! grin.png

Plenty of pics on the Chesshouse website....but.....Eventually,I'll post another "A Room With A View" thread.....Hmm? Thinking of pairing my Official Staunton... 1849 Antique Limited Edition Pieces with this gem.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I have the queen anne.  Its nice better than a BILL drueke but not the original Drueke.

Yes yes! When?

magictwanger

In the not too distant future, after all the holiday stuff.....Hopefully,my five year old grand daughter won't decide to splat Silly Putty on the back of my pants, like she did while I posted the last photo thread, causing me to screw up with  the upside down photos.....She thought it was a riot!surprise

The rules of CB&E are unflinching and rigid. You should have known better than to make a post without photos, @magictwanger. Your Silly Putty defense won't hold up in court.

I believe our ancestors burned people at the stake for smaller transgressions, @magictwanger wink

Next excuse will be Play Dough.
