Why does Lichess not allow us to play blitz with Chessconnect? Thanks.

Lichess doesn't allow for random games faster than rapid using their board API.

Thanks for that. I wonder how AcidApe gets around it.

Is there some kind of pattern? Like "it does not work when black is to move" or something similar?

None that I can see really. A lot of times it stops registering moves if I get a move wrong and then move the piece back, but sometimes it does. Other times it works for one puzzle but not the next, but again, that's not always the case. If I can determine any rhyme or reason, I'll let you know.

I will have a look at this myself in the next days. But any insight will definitively help.

What's wrong ? the connection button has disappeared ? (on chess.com)

About a week ago we had another user with the same problem. Reloading did help in his case. If it doesn't help in yours, can you turn on debug messages and see if you get an error?

The connection button appears when i click in the debug message square... thumbup

That's what I thought. Your typical Schroedinger's bug. It dies as soon as you look after it.

Hi Jörn, the latest release is working great for me. You've cracked the move announcement thing. I had one minor issue with having to make a move twice, but that is all and I'm sure it's only happened once as I recall. Thanks so much for your hard work and persistence.

Thanks, @GeorgeGoodnight! I am _very_ pleased to hear that! happy

Puzzles have been mostly working for me the last few days. I did have an instance where I got a move wrong and then it stopped registering moves after that, but I found that simply clicking the connect button again fixed the problem.

One other thing I've noticed playing on Lichess is that it seems to always promote to a queen even though I have auto queen off. I can just get in the habit of promoting on the screen first and then adjusting the board. I don't have that issue with chess.com though.

I may have seen this already, but what board are you using?

I have gotten into the habit of lifting the pawn from the 7th rank and placing the piece I want to promote to on the 8th rank.

That may work for you if you are using a Chessnut board. Have not tried with others.

I have a Chessnut Air. The method you describe works for me with chess.com, but not Lichess. Once I remove the opponent's piece from the board, it automatically puts a queen there before I even place a new piece.

That works for me on my DGT Smartboard. I believe that is how it is done in an otb game.

Remove the opponents piece? Well, that is what they chose then.

I meant if I capture their piece with a pawn to promote. Same deal if I just push the pawn to the last rank, though. Maybe it works to replace the pawn with the piece you want when not capturing (I haven't gotten a chance to try that), but it doesn't work when the promotion also involves a capture.

I will give it a try on Lichess (I have two accounts to test with).

Confirmed, if you capture a piece on the 8th rank with a pawn, when you lift the piece you are capturing it automatically promotes to a Q.

Using Chessnut Air, Edge browser, Chessconnect 3.5.0.

Thanks for figuring this out. I'll fix it as soon as possible.

There is no doubt about that at all.

I wish Sonos could fix their stuff that they are in business to do as fast as you fix stuff in your "hobby" project.
