2 different camera streams and a co-ordinated screencast. Very impressive!

OBS is your friend!

@OddGM: Thanks for the video! Can you please deinstall the regular version of Chessconnect and only use the beta? The two do not play nice with eachother.

Then please make sure that you do have the clock enabled in "All options". Do not forget to click on "Ok", after changing the options.

And sorry for the screenshot in German. You will get the idea:

I will try again tonight with only the beta installed. Uninstall both the regular chrome version and the Edge version.
Until yesterday, I only had the regular chrome version installed where I notice the clock issue, both here and on lichess. ca. 10 classical games.

@joernupbde The new run with only the beta installed fixed the disconnect/connect, but the clock issue was almost the same with only one clock running. Now it updated the clock after a move, as I remember it did before on the classical games I played. Still no clock on Noctie either.

@OddGM: Thank you for the highly professional video. That is extremely helpful. I will investigate. It might take a few days, though.

@joernupbde I'm just happy to help. If you need more tests from me, I'm ready.
I do have the protocol description for the DGT board/clock if you need it.
I have made programs in the past that communicate with the board, but never made any extension to any browser.
I also see that the result it report on the clock are wrong, maybe this could be a hint.

When using the clock (DGT3000) and Chessconnect, is there a way to configure it so that the clock shows the opponents move, and then once you have moved it shows your clock? This seems like you would get the best of both worlds, and wouldn't need to look at the screen for anything.
It maybe that I am in the wrong clock mode or something?

I just checked with my DGT3000 playing with white against poor Martin. The clock thows the times when the player (me) is thinking. When Martin made a move it shows the move until it is performed on board, too. Then it goes back to showing the time. That is exactly how it is supposed to be.

P.S.: That was with the current beta (4.5.24)

I tried the to copy your scenario as closely as possible. But for me the clock works nicely with 4.5.24beta. Shows the time when I am thinking and the move when there is an opponent move to be copied. But of course I see in your video that your clock behaves differently.

I noticed that on your lichess the white clock starts running after the first move with black. For me it starts after the first move with white. Is this due to a different setting in lichess?

P.S.: My clock works on noctie.ai, too. It was not showing the opponent move, though. This will be fixed in the next version.

I am about to release version 4.5.26 as the next official release within the next hours.

Please do not hesitate to write or post, if you encounter any problems with this release. It's always a little bit scary for me to roll out a new version to more then 3000 active users. :-S

Thanks @joernupbde. It is no exaggeration to say you have single-handedly transformed the electronic chessboard landscape.
I have treated myself to some new pieces for my DGT board now it has been given a new lease of life.
It is working beautifully and with the DGT clock too!

This is somewhat embarrassing, but did anyone succeed in connecting to a DGT board via bluetooth on a Mac? I finally got one and it works fine with the Chromebook. But not on my Mac. I can pair the board to the Mac. But for some reason Chessconnect cannot open that port.

What am I missing?

normally use Windows 11 to connect the DGT board, but just tested it on a MBP with lichess (and I’m guessing chess.com would behave similarly). The overall experience isn’t nearly as smooth as on Windows. Edge wouldn’t work at all (give up after 5mins playing around without success), and with Chrome, I had to restart the app several times before it would even display the Bluetooth list when I clicked “Connect.” Even then, the connection was hit-or-miss and wouldn’t stay active if I refreshed the page. Once it does connect, you can finish a full game (I tested a quick one against a bot), but as soon as you’re done, you’re basically rolling the dice again to get it working for the next match.

No clue why but just confirm the experience on bluetooth, did not test USB connection for same board.

joernupbde

I had the same experience with BLE. USB was rock solid. I might need to talk to DGT about this.

One user reported a problem with LEDs since the upgrade to 4.5. Apparently, for player moves the LEDs are not cleared until the opponent moves. Is anybody else experiencing this? So far, I have been unable to recreate this behavior.

@joernupbde

No issues with the Pegasus here, I'm using CC v4.5.28 official on Win11/Edge browser. Great experience with those so far and very impressed with your work.

joernupbde

Since the new version 4.5 seems to stable, I have now started working on an Android app.

endangerP

latest version is incredibly stable. Played dozens of rapid games on Lichess without needing to look at the screen at all (except to click for the next game). The DGT3000 displayed everything perfectly, and the voice announcement alerts you when place the opponent's move on the wrong square, is extremely handy. Now, the online game (15+10 or more) OTB experience with the DGT set is absolutely perfect.

Thank you so much for this fantastic little extension—it’s greatly appreciated!

P.S.: Bluetooth isn’t as smooth as USB during the initial connection, and there’s a slight extra delay (less than a second) compared to USB, even with the exact same settings.

There is a bug in the Phoenix version that sometimes shows the on screen keyboard when it is not needed. A fix for this is on it's way.

Tobsi66

nice to hear, that a problem known since the start of the app on the Phoenix (October 2024 !!) is now accepted as a bug.

meanwhile there is a new problem in the chess.com section of the Phoenix version:

the username and password in the login window is no longer saved, so I have to enter the data everytime new, what needs several minutes due to the ridiculous slow reaction on the Phoenix. Hope it needs not 5 other month for a solution here

I just tried the DGT 3000 clock with my DGT eboard through chess connect and the clock didn't display the times correctly, nor the moves. I also do not have the proprietary board-to-clock cable and am using a 3.5 mm cable I have laying around. Could that have something to do with the incorrect display of times?
