My favorite endgame books are in order of like:
- Practical Rook Endings by Victor Korchnoi, Edition Olms publisher
- Chess Endings Essential Knowledge by Yuri Averbakh, Everyman Chess publisher
- Silman's Complete Endgame Course by Jeremy Silman, Siles Press publisher
- Rook Endings by Levenfish/Smyslov, Batsford publisher
Excellent! Silman's book is defenitely on my to-buy-list! I hope to find something smallish to keep in my backpack so it is available whenever I have some free time....
One more idea: "Pandolfini's Chess Challenges: 111 Winning Endgames" is a pocket endgame puzzle book I've taken with me on a trips.

The endgame book by Livshitz is small like a regular paperback and is all problems, thematically arranged in increasing difficulty.
