Does Chess Books really help in your game?

I think they help sometimes, for beginners, but pros usually learn when they lose or by playing chess against players proer than themselves.

Books help players at every level...no two opinions...x world champ Karpov has more than 7000 chess books in his personal library,... another x world champ Max Eue, when came to challenge the Champ  (Botovinik) he came with truck load of books...the real problem is what player does over the board where he found 2 opponents 1) player 2) clock....thanks

Books are helpful too all levels. They learn from their mistakes. But most of their knowledge is coming from books.

ok ill start looking for some in the library ty for telling me that books do help for all noobs like me and pros.
