Nice pieces. Hopefully somebody identifies the set. The thing is, trading porcelain was a staple for many people in the times you mention. Most of it was produced by travelling salesmen themselves. For that reason, some porcelain has never been reproduced, and the quality often varied.

ID help?
These chessmen were in a cardboard box hand-labeled "Antique Set Chess Pawns Irish Painted Porcelain" at my mother's house. She received them from a friend who frequently travels to Ireland. Their felts look in good shape (original, or more recently added?). They're dirty on their tops, probably from a long time on display. One red knight and one red rook have been broken and glued back together. They feel hollow and are not weighted. They are hand-painted. The noses of a few pieces are worn. I can't find any manufacturer's marks. There is no accompanying board.
I'd appreciate any help in trying to determine their date or anything else about them.
Thanks!
