One Night's Lover (Le château de verre) is a 1950 film directed by René Clément, with Michele Morgan, Jean Marais etc. Michele Morgan was offered the main female role in Casablanca.

The chess pieces in this poster are huge, very funny.

If you are in Switzerland the next weekend, I will sell some chess related things in he Paul Klee Museum. You will find me easily because I almost sure will bring my Novag Adversary to the market (it was working last week, so I hope he will still work this weekend).

Wow, I could be completely off, but that looks very similar to a (very impressive) set that @Powderdigit had shown a while back.

Well it does somewhat resemble this set, but it seems the characters are different (Roman?).

I think it isn't the same. The rooks are definitely different, also Q and K are more European Medieval characters.

But yes, the size is similar, both sets huge.

I believe it is an Anri figurine set, but the picture does not have enough detail to be totally sure. There may have been a date in the very tiny print at the bottom right of the picture, but unfortunately the poster took some damage there, so if there ever was a date printed there, it is now lost. Cool image though. My brother and I always point out when chess sets are in any scene in a tv show or movie.

Thanks. I am also always aware about chess sets in movies. In Queens Gambit you can see that the chess board pattern is everywhere, in clothes, walls, etc.

Do you have a picture of the chess set shown in the film A Countess from Hong Kong?
