Hi everyone, i've been playing chess for a couple months now and I know the basics but one thing I have been curious about is all the names for chess moves. Are there any books you would reccomend compiling named chess moves?

Names for chess moves? Could you provide an example? Stuff like "Castling" or "Fianchetto"?

If you're referring to the names for various openings, you'll see a lot of references to ECO (or Encyclopedia of Chess Openings) with a number... you can start there.  There are resources on this site too.

 ECO on Wikipedia

Other terminology you might be interested in is related to tactics, like fork, pin, skewer, etc.

I haven't read any books myself, but have scoured several websites and learned quite a bit from Chessmaster on the PC.

Hope that helps...  Good luck
