One inch squares would typically call for a king height of one and three quarters inch. A Two inch height King set might work. Check that the base is around three quarters of an inch. It's not a very typical set size, however.

I was wondering about a leather chess board, my wife found in a second hand store. Is leather chess boards a thing, or it is just something someone made?
Also it has 1 inch squares and I was wondering if someone could recommend some pieces to go with it.
