My son is a chess prodigy. What do I do now?

What's his lichess account? Based on his classical, rapid, or blitz rating, you should do this: <1700, let him improve on his own. 1700-2300, you can hire a coach and get a uscf membership for him. 2300-2700, get a professional coach for him, and if he's >2700, your son is either cheating or a freaking prodigy.

My 11 year old son joined chess kids last month and is already 1900+ . The nearest competition that i have seen on there is 1500 and maybe one 1600. He is learning so fast. When I checked in on him last night he was even playing TWO games at once! On the desktop with ChessKid and on his phone he had what looked like a game going on the lyechess app. It’s quite remarkable.

My question is where do I go from here? Buy him books? Hire a coach?

Thanks

Forensics linguistics.

The way you speak sounds like a commercial. It's a dead give away.

You are a shill.

When did he start splaying chess?

1900 vs. 1500 = 91% winning, in 1 month? Very improbable.

There are plenty of competition on Chess.com and other chess sites.

You haven't bought him a book and he's 1900?

Baloney.

Usually chess.com frowns on the idea of anyone playing "two games at once". At least that could offer an explanation for the unusually high rating.

if you buy their membership they don't care how many games you play at the same time

Except one was on chesskid, the other game was on another site. Apparently simultaneously. Probably not a good idea to do that, or admit it.

I think that you should enroll him to a chess club and let him train and compete with other kids.

More like LIEchess app. Hahaha. He just lied to his dad when his dad caught him off guard.

Gullible adults. Look up the thread about My nephew beat Houdini (a classic, should be in the chess thread hall of fame). These adults want to believe so much that their kid or close relative is so amazing/genius/greatest thing since sliced cheese that they fail to use simple logic.

My friend plays on chess kid. He is 1700 on it, and on chess.com he is 1131. I don't really use chess kid, but your son may just be very good. Also, when you play chess, you typically don't have a phone because of cheating. Maybe don't allow him to use a phone while playing? It is too tempting to cheat I think.

chess kids atio is messed up. but that's a good rating on chess.com and chess kid

Avatar of Swipechesss

Well he is very good at chess for sure but Chesskid it a bit more ez he should join chess.com then he will battle harder people for example I am 500 chess.com and 1600 Chesskid he is deffenly a prodigy he might be able to get on top chess players. I don’t think he cheated pure skill
