After scrolling down the google picture archive enough times i found these stock photos, resembling what i'm looking for . Anyone know the piece set name?

These unique chessmen seems to be used at this photo as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Waganjan_rafael_20061029_berlin_bundesliga.jpg

These pieces are the DGT Timeless set (offered by DGT w/ their e-Boards). I've seen this set with two different bishops. THe DGT site offers the set with a modified bishop. But you can find the exact set you are looking for on Chesshouse.com:

Looks like a German Knight Staunton design.

Right FrankHelwig, but this chess set with variantions on Bishops, flooded the market  at prices almost "offered" $20 or less. Myself offered 8 sets to My chess Club, and and bought them in Eurosachach Dresden http://www.euroschach.de/

Why so cheap?  DGT or not,  They are manufactured in  by thousands in the area ofArmistar/ Punjab. Do you now how much this set in "producer" if in amount of hundreds? $10 or less! Incredible!! Indians friends tell me that is "Child Work".

What I think of this set?  Ordinary and nothing special in design and woodmaker. DGT felt compelled to offer others sets to their boards, with other designs!

They might appear like DGT Timeless and fall under the piece category, but i'm looking for the exact name, these pieces isn't that common actually (somewhat rare to encounter).

Apropo DGT pieces, i've noticed that some pieces seems to be specialy designed, i'm not sure if they are produces from other company or the customer add guideline on how the set should appear like.

These two photos explain, first the standard timeless pieces offered from DGT nowdays, second image show the more luxury and detailed work, if you look closely at the king and the queen you can see that they are more "chubby" / smooth around edges.

Any clue on how they get these chubby pieces that work on DGT ?

These pieces used by anand above appears "exactly" like in the photo below. Unfortunately they are not available from DGT anymore.

I like the wood grain, but I think the knights look cheap - flat, angular mass-produced carvings.  The rest of the set looks good if it is properly weighted which can be a factor in wood pieces.

Let's put things in their proper place!
Not DGT, nor the Indians invented this style pieces. The first set of this style  appeared in the 80 and  was made in Italy by the firm Didatto. Then by German firms "Ulbrich" and others (perhaps because it is called German Knight!) make the model, but without sucess- The
DSB-Turnier-Schachfiguren dominate the field . After,  FIDE , the marketing, and cheap labor in India make this set apears like mushrooms!

The chess set was used before the flood That Chavet, Used in Linares, and various tournaments in the World-years 90-2000 - look at the chess magazines!
Thus, the model parts DGT. or other similar copies were refined Italian Didatto Parts! The truth above all

Below parts Didatto and current DGT: Bishop and Knight are identical, and the inspiration for the DGT, we see where he was "caught"!
Again, I see nothing special about this set: no beauty, personality, the molding is very simple, although it is practical to play. Much has earned money with this pieces! Not on my part believe it!
You will now see in force the new chess pieces Candidate. In the future, like hotcakes in bakery, made in India, we bet?!!

Didatto and DGT Chess Pieces

Thanks

Thanks for response. One question: How how did the almost diamond shaped king turn into that "chubby" like form that is standard "Norm" nowdays on upper level boards. When did DGT interrupt the formation design sequence & implementing sensor dots?

These are my favourite pieces as well, I also prefer the 'chubby' ones anand is playing with. There is a compact solidness to them and they are perfect ratio to the squares. They are a perfect balance between simple elegance and detail. The other pieces with excessive detail are obtrusive to the eye. These all seem to be hand carved (by different craftsmen which is why they appear so different) Every time I see these pieces they appear at least slightly different. Ive never understood why the mass produced cheap plastic sets dont use this beautiful mold/model of pieces.

The wooden ones cost in the 1000$ range.. but Id buy a plastic one of these in a heartbeat.

Nooooo those knights look aweful! Too square and straight.

About the knights - yes they look awful indeed, we can assume some clubs buy these sets and then remove the ugly knights and replace then with german knight style's knights !?

What ?!

Did you even look at my link?

http://www.thechessstore.com/product/SGS275VW/German-Knight-Chess-Set-Sheesham-Boxwood-Walnut-Board-275.html

the king is 2.75 inches... the link you provided the king is 3 inches.

In this link the pieces are the chubby ones AND german knights, not sure why you are talking about buying a set with ugly knights and then buying a perfect set to replace the ugly knights??? makes no sense... just buy the good set 1st.
