Pretty cool the way they got the robot arm to work with a DGT board but I think that for $310, it should give lessons.

/ Oh, sorry. You mean it doesn't have a robot arm? It's just a chess clock showing the move notation and incorporating the functionality of the engines everyone already has running on their phones and computers?

Incorporating computer engines in a chess clock that costs five times as much as a plain clock?

Exactly who do they think will buy this? People who aren't beaten convincingly enough by their Iphones?

/ It's nice to have the DGT boards for major tournaments. They are very expensive but seem a reasonable expense to help automate transmission. The Pi, incorporating engines in a chess clock, can't be used in a tournament, can it? That would seem to be is just asking for trouble.

I think the DGT PI is pretty cool, I know 300.00 is alot of money. I think the PS4 and XBox1 also cost that much even more. I guess one could wait until the price drops but I doubt it well just not enough people that play chess overall. I like idead using the pieces instead playing on the computer, this is like the strong dedicated chess computer ever.

I was going to buy the dgt 3000 clock for my dgt board because I like to see the moves my opponent makes on the display instead of listening to the time consuming voice . but when I saw this for $175.00 more and it has 8 good engines on it, plus I don't need to lug a computer around ,I broke down an sent for it . heck , I've bought lots of little dedicated sensory board computers for that price .

There's a new development, using a DGT clock that can communicate with the DGT board (not sure if the PI can do this but would hope so), you can now play games on chess.com and never look at the computer screen, just looking at your clock and the board, which is a more traditional way of playing chess (although in this case, the clock is for informing of opponents move and not used for time).  I would prefer this over playing a game on a real board, then inputting my board move into the computer, then looking at computer for opponents move, and then updating the physical board.  The older way of using a real board for online games is more distracting and cumbersome.

hi fewlio . the dgt pi can also work exactly like the dgt 3000. chess baron has the complete manual for the dgt pi . I got mine for $275.00 at amazon.

I'm in heaven ! my dgt pi arrived this morning , and it is great . my friend loaned me his dgt 3000 clock yesterday , so I had time to learn it . so when my dgt pi came I had it figured out . call me crazy , but I think it was well worth $275.00 since I already own a dgt board which cost me $312.00 . it has 8 different engines besides being as good as a chronos clock ,and I don't need to hook it up to a computer. now I need to figure out how to hook it up to chessguard so I can use it on chess.com &lichess .
