Very nice!! Looks great for either blitz or tournamnet play
dwz: Nice! Does the "fin" on the knight make it Lardy?
I dunno. Probably.
Also, Chess Bazaar has a few very nice decorative (but impratical) ebony chess sets for sell.

That's a really nice set for 70 bucks shipped!
My new set just arrived a few days ago. The initial requirements were as follows:
It took me a while to go through the forum posts, and somewhere I found this video:
So I decided to go with the Premier Chess Set. I found it available on the Wholesale Chess website, but there was a requirement to make a wire transfer (!) for first time buyers. I looked around some more, and found out that the same chess set is called the Conqueror Chess Set in Europe, and is available from The Regency Chess Company at:
http://www.regencychess.co.uk/conqueror-weighted-staunton-chess-pieces-4-inches-plastic-p-1071.html
I ordered there, and had the pieces in a week's time. For the board, I needed a silicon or vinyl one. Strangely, the Regency Chess Company had none (only wooden ones). So I got mine from the Chess House, and it arrived just yesterday. Here is the end result.
Just as the video reviewer suggested, I filed down the extremely sharp spikes on all four queens. After setting up the board, I felt that it was a tad too small for the chess pieces. To verify, I took out my old, unweighted chess set and set it up:
Yes, it seems that the 20" silicon board is too small for the new pieces...
Next step would be to try out a 22" board. But that's for next year...
plastic, satisfactory weight, sturdy,K height 86mm,made by a reputable company.Bought them for 15 euro.Recommended for use with a 5x5cm square chessboard. In my opinion one of the better tournament plastic staunton sets.Only drawback, queen coronet too thorny!
@crazy nice set . I have the same one from wholesalechess. I also filed down the queens crowns, they were extremely sharp. Nice heavy weight also. I got the "natural " colored set. It's nice looking but just a shade too "pink" IMO. Thanks for sharing the pics and video.
Anyone ever try Howard' Feed n Wax on their boxwood pieces and even sheesham pieces?

But I was lucky and got it while 20% off :D
I didn't know the shipping cost, and ~$15 shipping is high for a relatively small ~3-pound box, assuming it is shipping from the U.S. to the U.S.
