Recommended GM Annotated Games Book

What book of a Grandmaster's games collection has very instructive and numerous annotations of each game, as well as being a book that covers a large base of subjects?

Hopefully the book isn't too outdated either. I look forward to seeing your opinions and reviews. Thanks.

There are many well-annotated games collections.  Some books that fit your description would be John Nunn's Understanding Chess Move by Move, Burgess/Nunn/Emms' The World Greatest Chess Games, Paul Keres' Road to the Top and Quest for Perfection, Igor Stohl's Instructive Modern Chess Masterpieces, Nunn's Grandmaster Chess Move by Move, and Ivan Sokolov's Winning Chess Middlegames, arranged roughly in ascending order based on the level of the target audience.

These are all excellent games collections that have deep annotation which are designed to be instructive, and you could probably could not go wrong with any of them, but the last three are probably most suitable for someone rated at least 1800.

The World's Greatest Chess Games is probably the best deal in terms of bang for your buck.  There is a pretty extensive chess education available in this 700-page paperback, all for about $11.

Thank you for your input. I'll definately check out The World's Greatest Chess Games then.

Though as mentioned above there are plenty of good choices, I also very much like Stohl's book (as well as his two volumes on Kasparov's best games). Good for thorough study and also good for browsing.

I was recently impressed by Gelfand's My Most Memorable Games.

On the offchance that you haven't visited Coach Heisman's website:

I went ahead and bought The Mammoth book of The World's Greatest Chess Games and after a quick glance I can say that this is exactly the type of book I am looking for. Any suggestions for books similar to this one would be very much appreciated.

I'll check out Stohl's book for sure too.

How good are Gelfand's annotations in regards to being instructive? Are his annotations for advanced players or are they explained really well?

I prefer the book "GM Zod shows no mercy"

I went through Heisman's list and the main books I was interested in weren't on Amazon Kindle... Frown I did find a few though. Speaking of Dan Heisman, I think his "The Improving Chess Thinker" was the most noticably beneficial book to my game play that I have read.

Does anyone know of any books/articles/resources by strong players going over tabias/tabiyas(not sure which is actually correct...)?

What would be a good way to research tabiyas? I haven't really found any collections of them or anything of the sort.

What chess resource helped you with your progression the most? Whether it be a book, program, magazine, etc...

Please name the resource.

What has helped me the most is Tactics Trainer. You have to train your tactics somehow but there are other ways to do it.
