The best chess book I've ever read was, "Test, evaluate, and improve your chess" by IM Danny Kopec. I love his material and learned a ton of information from it. He also has several DVDS and VHS on chess. I encourage you to check it out. It's well worth it.

Does he have a www. address?.

horsehead,

be creative, try www.google.com and type in   danny kopec

for instance.

lowest prices I have found for chess books online is www.alibris.com

(( but do not order any used book if they list it as having mildew or mold  --- as my personal recommendation.))

Would a 1300+ player be able to appreciate this book, or would it be too hard?

I already have too many books over my head now, and would like one that would speak to me at my level.

This book is easy to understand and is great for all players. Wether you're a beginner or a GM

It certainly didn't help you with pawn forks, lol. :P

lol. Well, IM Dr. Danny Kopec designed this to be a tactical book that's for stronger, more advanced players. Not the easy pawn forks stuff that you could easily find online.

Well, I just received my Kopec book from Amazon. (In fact, I received TWO due to an error on my part.  sigh....)

My first impression is that it is too hard for me. Discouraging.

AND there is so much hype about his system of testing. BORING.

Does anyone out there love this book? If so, why?

I would like to enjoy studying with this book, but for me it does not yet "invite me in."
