I finally was able to take a few shots of the Red and Ivory HOS Windsor, here on my HOS ebony and maple Contemporary I board, whose maple squares are acquiring a nice patina. I like this design, but I find the Knights to be undersized, and the lacquer and red combine for too much glare to play a serious game.

I find the Knights to be undersized,
Thanks for some nice pics Chuck. I agree the Knights are undersized. Its surprising HOS's Frank C.' didn't make the Knight larger as I feel most collctors including myself would have welcomed a larger Knight.

CG-That Windsor is sooo strong looking, but I have to agree with Mike and youself on the knight being so small compared to the balance of the set. It has that nice stout heavy appearance to it and like Mike mentioned, surprised FC made the knight so small. Other than that, just a beautiful set with top shelf photos

Definitely would like to see bigger knights and smaller pawns. Very attractive set.
I agree, those ponies won't hunt. And gee, they didn't spare the steroids with those pawns either!
Cgrau, it's a very attractive set and board!

Wow beautiful set and board. I love your room too specially the chess pieces on the shelf. Great looking reds and maple.
Thanks, HC. When my son left for the Army, the room became mine. Out with the pool table and Xbox. In with the bar, flat screen TV, and chess palace.

Thanks, Lou! A classic set with a couple design flaws. The board really is a favorite.

Chuck, those knights have always been my one dissatisfaction with the Windsor set, and why I finally sold mine a few years ago. It's really the only weakness in an otherwise classic set. Gotta love that board, though!
Thanks, Bob. I do love that board, and despite the design flaws, I'm too nostalgic about Windsors to part with mine.

Last but in no way least is my CB Red Dubrovnik.
If anything, the CB Knight is somewhat oversized. This looks like a match between Tyrion Lannister and The Mountain.

Fantastic shots Chuck!, The ChessBazaar red Dubrovnik looks like a "match made in heaven" with your ebony and maple HOS board. Anybody viewing your beautiful pics might be inclined to pick up the CB Dubrovnik set and find a similar board. Can you think how many more Dubrovnik sets CB would sell if they used your beautiful pictures?

Red as the white pieces on a red/black board would be cool, especially if you were in a dark room and the red squares on the board lit up.

I've become a fan of the Dubrovnik pattern only recently, and as a direct result of perusing this forum. This crimson colored version has drawn some criticism but I think it's gorgeous! Great pics!
Here is my 3.6" CB Dubrovnik before the Red Queen went drinking. She took one for the team to prove that you had to soak the red pieces in solvent to get the color to run.
LOL! To make the crimson Dubrovnik's safe for children do you think CB should start using food coloring instead of the wood stain? Say, Red Dye #3 since it's FDA approved.
LOL Lou. I think CB has solved their stain problem for everyone except fools like me who soak their pieces in vodka or bourbon.
