Hello everyone

As you know, a few weeks ago we release our brand New Lessons. As you know, we have been working really hard, producing +50 curated videos, challenges, the structure, the curriculum... It has been an amazing road and we are just at the beginning. BUT....

Chess Lessons
The brand new chess lessons from Chess.com

... we NEED your help please! We would love to understand better what do you think about them, independently if you are a free member, Gold, Platinum or Diamond or even a guest user (without registering).

We would love to hear all your thoughts please about your experience with them so far.

Please, try to be as detailed as possible.

Thank you SO much!

They're delightful and there are lovely exercises with useful feedback for the user.
Translations will be a great add and really hope they're on the way happy.png For the lesson's vids it would be more complex, but with .srt stuff maybe in case they work on the browser as well? Or a narrative in the specific language, for instance in Pt-BR dubbed by Wendel Bezerra. grin.png

Hola, David.

Saludos!

I remember bashing live on Chess TV. I bashed a lot that training with Tactics Trainer is useless. I knew that the staff was asking me why I found it very bad. This time I would shut my mouth.

Have you tried Puzzle Rush? It would be very surprising for me if you would say that you find it useless. Also, we are adding 2 more mores soon.

I was shown the chess board in January 2019 so am a true novice.  Later in the month I found this web site.  I will subscribe after a course finishes.  I can however say as a novice this site is wonderful.  The basic lessons et al have helped me and I have seen no faults at my level.

Hello.  Thanks for your advice.  Appreciated.  My college course finishes soon so I shall opt for the diamond in a month's time.  Should then learn a lot more.  But most enjoyable this Chess.  Cant understand why its taken me 70 years though to start!

Hi David. The lessons look very neat and flash - they have clearly been designed well. I haven't been using them though for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it seems that you need to have diamond or platinum membership to have access to the whole course. There is little point in doing a course therefore unless you have one of these memberships. So, at present, I'd rather learn off-line or from somewhere else that offers a complete course.

Secondly, and more importantly, the courses are too amorphous. By that I mean, it is difficult to work out where one should be concentrating one's efforts to improve. For instance, compare with a human coach. I paid such a person for the first time last year and he immediately pointed out the flaws in my game -specifically the middle game - and suggested a couple of books to read to rectify this. They are great and I can immediately feel I'm improving. With the chess.com  courses, I have no idea whether they're really helping or not. Linked to this, I think you would do much better if you could perfect your feedback/ratings system with the Lessons. One of the things people like and talk about on your site is their ratings - they want to see how they're improving. The Lessons ratings, if they still exist, are very loose and vague. Even if such ratings are slightly artificial they motivate people to continue. So I'd like to see a much better diagnostics tool to work our what you need to improve on and a better ratings system that conveyed one's progress better.

Im not liking the way im getting limited access to the lessons, like... you only get to do the first lessons in the intermediate level lessons.

With your permission, asking the following: Which would be the main point of not upgrading from Gold to Diamond? Thank you so much for your feedback

When will new lessons be available on iOS/iPad in Europe?

I've mentioned this before but after watching video, done excercises the user should be directed to Puzzle Rush with correct theme an low enough rating (e.g. 900) prefilled for further practice.

Could you make Puzzle Rush remember the rating range last chosen? Would rather do puzzles than sliding the bar trying to get correct rating...

If everything goes well, they will be included in the next release

I was told the next release would come end of January. Is there a new deadline?

Sorry for the delay! If I am not wrong, it should be available before the end of this week
