If you’re a dad go ahead and teach your kid how to throw a baseball. Coach him up on it. You don’t have to be Nolan Ryan. You don’t even have to be a professional baseball player. Bc he doesn’t even know what hand to hold the ball with..
Y’all should coach people for free
Once he gets to high school or even middle school you may need someone who at least played in college to teach him though
If you can beat someone 1000 times out of 1000, imo you can teach that person a little bit. You guys are nuts. You guys totally forget how good 1000 is compared to a person who plays a couple games here and there without analyzing. And they’re rated like 200-300

You can give tips to people lower rated, but why would you actually coach someone for free? Then it becomes a waste of time unless you actually learn something from it
I don’t learn anything from it. I’m not so sure about chess if I like it or not. I like stomping lower rated though and also teaching. I dont wanna play only really hard games rn where it’s a coin flip if I win. And yes it’s a great waste of time it passes the time nicely at work where I live. The problem with chess is you always feel like you suck at it bc ur always playing people just as good as u are. I just wanna feel like Kobe Bryant and cross some people over and avoid helicopters

I mean if you don't wanna get better then sure go ahead. But I love playing stronger players, because you can learn a ton!
Ya I wanna play weaker and a million people wanna play stronger and chess.com won’t let it happen. Not allowed to do that. It won’t find me games unrated and I have to go rated and there’s an elo cap. I have no desire to put in effort and get better rn

Good for u I guess but seriously why for free. I don't mind giving out tips but like free coaching is too much

I don’t care about anyone’s opinions on this. If you’re a real coach u don’t need to be coaching 600 and under it makes no sense. U don’t need to be a 2300 to coach a 300 what are you guys smoking?
Yes you do, that's why you started a thread about it and have been arguing with everyone that responds.
I’m just telling u guys u can coach someone rn u don’t have to wait until you’re 2400 to coach a 100. 700 elo difference is easy. 1000 is too boring. It’s a public service announcement. Also rewarding when they boost
The whole point of coaching is to get money. It's a job...
Maybe for you. If you’re an actual coach why waste your time with a 400? U should be coaching like 1600s that’s real coaching where u pay and talk high level strategy and actually use your expertise.

Good for u I guess but seriously why for free. I don't mind giving out tips but like free coaching is too much
I do free coaching.
It's not for money, it's something that brings me rewards in other ways-namely the improvement of the student.

Respectfully, a 1600 shouldnt coach people
I mean, at elo under 1800, coaches will likely occasionally make mistakes. This will increase as the rating goes lower, so, no, I don't think a 800 should coach a 200.
