Yes when grandmasters obtain their GM title it sticks with them for life even if they have a bad tournament.

I proved my credentials in the Alapin by making this thread, so I keep my credentials even if I don’t win this tournament

You "proved" some things in this thread, that is for sure...

He proved that he's a genius! It's not everyday a 2000 rated player refutes one of the most controversial openings.

@staples13 is smart or troll. I copied his word "busted" in my posts and got a lot of attention/debate in the forum. 😂🤣😃😏

I am impressed with OP now. He busted a lot of people with his secret and massively improved from 1500 to 2000 within one month.

😎🤔😗🤩

drmrboss

OP should write a book " how to improve from 1500 to 2000 in one month by busting Sicilian"

😂😁🤣

Try and follow along drmrboss. There are no less than 20 posts on various threads showing screenshots of all the different times I tanked my rating. Everyone already knows this.

So I sandbagged for a little while what’s the big deal? It breaks no rules.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it does.

Pack it up guys, we finally found a refutation to the Sicilian. Thank you OP for enlightening us all with your amazing discovery. 2. c2!!! How is black going to counter this novelty?!

By calling the aribiter

TIME TO REFUTE THE ALAPIN

I know how. U just ask karpov or ivanchuck. They must have come across the alpain before. They know...

Carbon6

STATS: 4% OF HIS GAMES ARE SICILIANS

3% OF HIS GAMES ARE ALAPINS

86% OF HIS SICILIANS ARE ALAPINS

98% OF HIS SICILIANS AS WHITE ARE ALAPINS

I’m going to be very sad if the regular contributors to this thread don’t all join the Sicilian Alapin daily tournament I created. We’re up to 33/100 slots filled, so you’re running out of time if you haven’t signed up yet

Sorry everyone I know its been a while since I posted games to learn from.

This post will focus on the strange move 2. d6 that everyone seems to love to play against the Alapin. Clearly black had been hoping for the very common 2. Nf3 in which case d6 would be an acceptable move, but against the Alapin it accomplishes nothing and loses pretty much immediately. It fails to develop a piece and surrenders complete control of the center to white. White's development is much more natural, as black must typically make fatally weakening moves like g6 in order to develop his dark squared bishop or protect against mating threats since white controls the center. Look at the game below where this concept is demonstrated in my 3 minute no increment blitz game

Or look at the game below. White gets a stranglehold on the center early on, uses it to ratchet up the pressure on blacks king, forces black to weaken his kingside and then converts the win in style. All of black's problems stem from his two first moves which accomplished nothing. Again the time control is 3 minutes with no increment

I hope you all see why the 2. d6 variation of the Sicilian loses, and I will continue on to show why 2. e5 and 2. Nf6 loses over the next couple days as promised

Those games were won by White due to Black's mistakes.

I talked to Semyon Alapin a little while ago, and he said he's delighted to hear this news. His only regret is that, having died in 1923, he didn't live long enough to see this ultimate vindication of his idea. "I actually saw this knucklehead Carlsen play the ridiculous 2.Nf3?" he said, "What a fish!"

This is probably my favorite post on this thread. I think it’s important to give credit to the great opening theoretician Semyon Alapin, who came up with this brilliant idea long before I did.

On an analytical note it’s not that 2. Nf3 is so illogical it’s just inaccurate because it gives black drawing chances

Rapid results total:

10 wins, 6 LOSSES, and a DRAW. Sooo... how did you sandbag and manage to still lose with the alapin?

staples13

This is a serious thread horrible tomato. Let’s try and keep the topic on legitimate analysis of the Alapin

HorribleTomato
