I will find a 5 minute game I played in this variation yes. It’ll probably have to be tomorrow when I post it though

I completely forgot that I said I'd do that. I will find one. In the meantime enjoy this brilliant two minute bullet game I played in the Staples13 variation of the Alapin a few minutes ago.

What is the staples variation of the Alapin?

Avatar of staples13

The Staples13 variation is where you castle queenside in the Alapin. It says to black that I don’t care that you have an open c file stating at my king. My attack is stronger than yours

Hopefully Carlsen and Caruana will play a couple Staples13 Alapins in their upcoming World Championship match

Wait... this guy claims that the Sicilian is busted becouse you don't control the center? now this is stupid... isn't the c5 pawn coverning d4? Isn't the c5 push open the queen's diagonal and allowing the knight to be developed without blocking the c pawn? Isn't the c5 getting space on the queenside for black since move 1?

By your arguments you just busted the Bird, the english, the polish, the saragossa, the anderssen, the clemenz... for white and a lot of responses for black. You literally refuted all the hypermodern chess and all the openings that indirectly control the center or that give up the center at the opening and try to undermind it later.

That's not even a variation. I also castle queenside sometimes when playing the Alapin.

I feel like you are just trolling us

Nonsense. The English, bird, and all the other openings you listed are obviously not busted. I have not claimed that and no sane person would.

They are perfectly playable. I have given dozens of games and reasons why the Alapin busts the Sicilian

No it would make for an exciting game instead of the boring draws Carlsen and Karjakin kept playing to.

Im glad you enjoy playing the Staples13 variation as well! It’s an extremely fun, exciting opening

Lol it's not your variation becouse it's not even a variation. I could also call 1.e4 c5 2.c3 the OpeningTheorist variation so I'm glad you play my variation

Avatar of staples13

Now you’re just being ludicrous. You can not claim the Alapin as your variation, as it belongs to Semyon Alapin who in my opinion is the greatest openin theoretician of all time.

As chess.com’s undisputed ranking expert on the Alapin I am most certainly entitled to name a variation of the Alapin that I invented after myself

Avatar of staples13

Since you are a practitioner of the Staples13 variation of the Alapin please post one of your games with it, so we can all see it in it’s full beauty

Undisputed ranking expert? How can you claim that everybody castling queenside on the Alapin is playing your variation? This is so stupid you must be trolling.

Man you are literally nobody in online chess or OTB chess, how can you make such nonsense claims?
