A Bust to the Sicilian Defense

You should write a book about the Alapin, as now you are a kind of celebrity.

84-page thread. Amazing. The Alapin is a perfectly fine line, but to claim the Sicilian is busted? I hope it's meant as a joke. 

Threads shouldn't be 84 pages. It is hard to read them that way and most comments in this thread are complete sarcasm. I like searching Chess.com when I want to learn to play new opening. I get information from strong players that is useful, but this type of threads completely destroy the purpose of "Chess Openings" forum section. I ask Chess.com moderator to close this thread.

I must respectfully disagree with this statement. This thread has helped thousands learn how to beat the Sicilian with the Alapin. Just because you don’t find it particularly useful to your specific situation doesn’t mean the thread should be shut down.

84 pages of dross. The only thing this thread has taught people is that the OP hasn't a clue what he/she is talking about.

The Sicilian only scores 30% against Staples13. That is abysmal. 

Shouldn't it be 0% if you say it's 'busted'?  This is just embarrassing and we're all losing the will to live. Give it up.

Staples13, you aren't world chess champion to say that is abysmal. Your opponents also aren't grandmasters. You would probably score 5% or even less (that is a fact) if you just played against them. Sicilian Defense is played by top 10 chess players in the world and it has good reputation. There is no proof that Sicilian Defense is busted by Alapin. Your score against it means nothing, except your opponents are weak. And my problem isn't specific. It is hard to navigate through 84 pages even if content is good. Now I would ask chess.com moderator to MUTE you and stop you from making any threads while also closing this thread. That probably isn't possible, but you obviously deserve it. I won't answer anymore as I think I'm losing my brain cells now. 84 pages isn't a joke, or proof of your title. It just proves that you are a troll. END OF STORY

Just because someone isn't accustomed to the massive theory involving the Sicilian defense, it doesn't give you the right to be straight up mean about it. This stuff is really just clickbait. Chill. Taking away someone's right to speak just because of an opinion is just low. This man is just proud of himself for his accomplishment.

The OP lost all credibility by proposing the Sicilian to be busted. C'mon people!

I destroyed another NM just now with the Alapin. I am now 2-0 against titled players using the Alapin who dare to play the Sicilian against me over the past week or so. This is a 2275 rated FIDE player, so no one can claim he is weak. Even an extremely strong player like him could not survive 14 moves against the Alapin. I’m only presenting the facts,  Interpret them as you may.
