Here’s my most recent game. A one minute no increment bullet game. This game is particularly instructive as it features the Staples13 variation of the Alapin where white castles queenside and launches an unstoppable attack on blacks kingside. Enjoy!!

Why you only post games you play against weaker opponents?

I’ve posted a couple dozen games of me beating stronger opponents. But also rating is irrelevant. If the Alapin wins by force it does so both against Kasparov and a 600 rated player

I don’t think that’s how syllogisms work...

@staples13, I suggest you move out of the realm of chess.com, and start doing a real circus business. Your reputation would bloom!

Excellent post SpiderUnicorn. If you notice I was completely winning every single one of those games in the opening and only lost because of time or in the middlegame/endgame. Fortunately my losses are just as instructive as my wins

Is rating irrelevant to the issue of whether or not the moves are very close to "best play"?

Have you identified a winning improvement for any of those games? Have you identified a specific one of the games as concluding with you in a winning position?

First game Spiderunicorn posted the one against Tragarzd.

22. Qxf6 22. Qxf6 (only legal move) 23. Rd7#

Is that the earliest improvement that you see? Do you claim that it was won for White all the way up to move 21? Do you see a winning continuation for White if Black had played 11...Bg4 ?

You have never posted games of you beating stronger opponents. Besides, if rating is irrelevant, than why is it the measuring system of skill used by the whole world of chess?

?? The very first game posted on the very first post of this thread was me crushing a much higher rated opponent with the Alapin. Since then I’ve posted dozens of others like it

Kingsgam

have somewhat proven this to myself. now I play f4 to the Sicilian, and often get good results mid range strength 1600 or so

A pitiful performance.

He accidenatally played d4, an opening premove, I expect. Does not refute argument.

That was because your opponent was a bit dumb. e6! refutes the Alapin immediately.

Wait, I thought you agreed that the Sicilian was busted so you posted a new thread to discuss new defense to Alapin because d5 and Nf6 dont work.

August 29 2019

No, it is that I don't think the Sicilian is busted but certain people keep saying it is so I had to make my own forum about why the refutation for the Sicilian can be neutralized so that people will agree the Sicilian ISN'T busted.

neveraskmeforadraw

SpiderUnicorn, aka Magnus fanboi got banned. Sicilian defense may not be busted, but he surely is.

To summarize this thread with my opinions:

@staples13 is not trolling. Yes, many questionable posts were made by him, but he mostly tried to answer people’s responses in a civil manner, despite many others attacks. He has tried to show some key Alapin themes and responses to variations in repertoire form.

In in the end, I still do not believe the Sicilian is busted. But I have learned a thing or two from this thread (however frivolous some posts were), and the OP made an honest effort to answer questions, and doesn’t deserve most of the passive aggressive (or just aggressive) responses to his thread.

In my opinion the Sicilian Defense is busted. It loses by force.

"He has tried to show some key Alapin themes and responses to variations in repertoire form."

No...he has said that the Sicilian is busted, and loses by force.
