Thanks for that advice but the Nf6 move is a move that black can use in order to fight the alapin. Yes I did not follow the opening principle in that game but in others I have. however the question I asked was if there were any links or any advice to fight the Alapin. I'll work on my opening principle on my spare time.

Hello chess players. How are you all doing? So earlier this year, I competed in a chess tournament. I had been using the Sicilian. Taking all of my time and energy into studying the possibility of different variations to expect.
So I was in my third or second round. Out of all the variations of the Sicilian I had prepared myself for... I didn't prepare myself for........ THE ALAPIN!!! In the end, j resigned in about 15 moves because I was being torn apart on that chess board.
I was devastated. And I was also kicking myself mentally hahaha.
Does anyone have any recommendations, advice, links, or references to ways that I can fight the alapin as black? If so I would greatly appreciate any advice. :). Thank you!!!
