Anti-Merans in the Semi-Slav

Any advice what to play against the Semi-Slav if you want to avoid the dreaded meran variation? I feel like black instantly equalises or even has a more stable position if he reaches the ideal setup in the meran. I mean I can play the pawn sac with Bg5 and go for that kind of position but Im talking about with playing the e3 variation. I've looked into the 7.g4 variation but whenever i try and analyze positions on my computer it keeps telling me white loses to 7..Nxg4 8.Rg1 Nxh2 9.Nxh2 Bxh2 10.Rxg7 and 10..Nf8! And now no matter what i do I'm supposedly worse as white. I personally would like to look into this opening more, but am wondering if its worth it. Also, there's b3 variations and variations where white refrains from playing Nc3 completely and eventually plays Nd2 instead with an early e3..I'm wondering which ones you would suggest. 

How about looking at games of top players playing 7g4, without using software, and seeing some ideas?
