The Nimzo-Indian has the best stats against 1 d4 and is a very solid opening indeed.
In the diagram of post # 6 black has made an error already. In the QGD black should recapture on d5 with the e pawn. Then the B/c8 is usually developed somewhere on the c8-h3 diagonal.
