The funniest thing about this gambit is the name; Danish gambit. In Denmark it is called nordic gambit!!!!!

My database says 4 games, 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss for white

Someone played this opening against me recently at the 2013 US Masters tournament. I do not think very highly of it.

I used to play this gambit during OTB tournaments a few years ago. It has the potential to give white a very strong attack, but it's rather easy for black to equalise or even get the upper hand, as seen by many of the lines posted in this thread. If you want to play a wild tactical game as white, I think that it's better to play 3.Bc4 openings such as the Evan's Gambit or the Fried Liver Attack. They are more difficult to defend against, and white's long term prospects are better after black defends properly.

87654321: I have looked into early Re1 also and it does not make much of a difference. Just the move order changes.

vill0236: In Denmark they call it nordic gambit because they are shamed that a refuted opening is named after their country...

Re1 goes down an alternate route.

Risky but worth a throw against an unsuspecting opponent

Your play was very good in taking advantage of 13 Qh3?

Maybe next time a sterner test awaits.
