Coming back to chess seriously after 2 years, what now?

Heya, its been a while since I took the game of chess seriously. While yes, I do come back to the site every now and then to play casual games against IRL friends, but its been quite a long time since I've dabbled in serious chess. But of course, after several, several months of inactivity one is bound to get rusty. I'm having serious troubles formulating plans and defending myself against brutal attacks as I've observed during my few games at the local chess park. If y'all know any reading material or videos that tackle these certain issues, that would be greatly appreciated. Peace

Also I just realized I put this in the wrong forum category lol

I feel you, I came off a long hiatus myself not too long ago. My advice is to do some tactics and play some games with the computer, just to get back into the groove of things. I'd probably do those two things before I hop back into live chess playing randoms. Also, don't forget to analyze your games, especially the ones you lose.
