I'll post the results here when I'm done

In a nutshell, most d4 players hate openings they don't face a lot like Dutch and most even myself are caught off-guard despite studying the opening.

Benko

The King's Indian Defense gives me the most trouble.

I don't "hate" to play against it, though. I enjoy the challenge. But I do find it the most difficult to beat, especially when it's in the hands of an experienced player.

Do share the results, It will help me to make the most annoying opening repertoire out there wink.png

Benko can be annoying if you accept gambit and mix up your preparation.

I have a study on the Benko Gambit. The author recommends the f3 line and provides sample games

That's why I chose French against e4. - White needs to know 8 variations to play best. most choose the Advanced var [it sucks more than a vaccuum cleaner - I almost always win] or they play the very g_y "Exchange Variation" - winning on time, because I fall asleep at once. - they never play main lines. besides, it's fun - solid, and you attack at once, so...

Against d4, very hard to choose, indeed.

Can relate as a French player. However, if they play 2.Nf3, I play 2...c5 transposing into a Sicilian because they like to exchange the pawn. Also, I need to have a backup just in case they either play a boring variation, or a variation I have no clue how to beat.

With the Advanced, I like to blay the ...Bd7 line instead of ...Qf6 and on Chess.com, people keep making the mistake of Bg5 which almost never happens on Lichess

ConfusedGhoul

do you mean a Bb5 with the Nc6 and Bd7 that loses a pawn after Nxe5?

Me too - transposing to sicilian, but they got wise - they play a delayed alapin. any idea what to do?

Very interesting, I remember GM Finegold mentioned that, never gave it a chance... you say practically it's better?

I got you.

This is what I play. It's the same two moves in a regular Alapin

Also, I made a typo in one of my posts and I will show I diagram to correct it

ROFLMAO!  Only d-pawn players should answer - How laughable!

There is a reason I don't play d4, and it's because my most hated opening in all of chess (Black or White) is a d4-opening!  No wonder why I play 1.e4 and 1.b4!

That hated d4-opening that I refuse to play from either side is the Grunfeld Defense!

Kapivarovskic

I don't play much d4 but curious to know the answer, it'd be nice if you share the results

I always assumed that d4 players prefer sleepy, positional games. Personally, I hate closed games so started playing the Grunfeld. I’m guessing that most d4 players dislike it because if they liked open games, they’d play e4, but I’m not a d4 player so I wouldn’t really know.
EKAFC

Anyone who's played the Botvinnik Semi-Slav knows that there is nothing boring about it. This is why I get pissed when d4 players don't play into it
