There's also a nice trap.
Do you know the anti-Trumpowsky?

Bg5 places pressure on the defender of d5 and holding e4 but the giveaway is that even with Bxf6 exf6, Black can at least get a level game sticking with good development.

There is nothing "Anti" about 2...c6. It does nothing to stop White from playing the Trompowsky.
And anyone with even the slightest ounce of intelligence knows not to play 3.e3 here. White can play 3.Bxf6 (most common) or else 3.c3, 3.Nf3, etc.

White will be happy. Most Trompowsky players will play 3.Bxf6.
If this was the case then 2...c6 would be an excellent counter to the Trompowsky.
The exchange at f6 is more of a bluff than a real positional threat.

Nope. It is the main idea in Trompowsky: White exchange and try to build a position (with help of Black's double pawn) where the Knights are better than the Bishops.
Do you recommend to play the anti trompowsky?
