Don't play the Borg unless you know how - it's terrible

I am about 1600-1800 strength (this is a new account) which isn't great but I almost lost to a 1000 rated player playing the Borg because I got into opening trouble (but I was able to easily outplay him from there). Against anyone stronger I've would've been annihilated playing this opening.

I'm tempted to try it a few more times because of the novelty factor. Did I do something wrong? Is it just a terrible opening? 

I think you could have ended the title at 'Don't play the Borg'. If the Grob 1.g4 is dubious at best then the Borg must be flat out bad. Saying that, these are just online games for a bit of fun so who cares? Play whatever.

 Wow, you may be right. I looked at the engine and after move 1 it's already +1.50. That's a losing move from the very first move.

Won't be playing that again.
