Yep, by saying that gambit's are useless you are now getting ratioed by around 60 people that all have won some of the BEST games they have ever had by using gambits..

gambits aren't dumb, but a lot of them are, and a lot of youtubers push bad gambits out to their audience.

As soon as I have time I'll take a good look at it. Thank you so much

That odd idea of playing a4 and lifting the Rook to the King's side comes up in other openings, such as the Drunken Knight Gambit.

No it all looks pretty good. I can fill in the Alekhine variation theory as I looked into that when you mentioned it and it looks brutal to navigate as Black.

We have a new policy to root out unsound gambits. When a new player wants to join our club, they must sign a a 5 page questionaire concerning what openings/defenses they will play. I have a committee that evaluates the answers and, if approved, that player goes onto the next step in being permitted to play at our club. Many have cursed at me and leveled obscenities in their disgust at the way we do things but gambits will not "poison our blood"!

I will forgive them after they do penance.

My book on the budapest by Tim Taylor recommends not immediately recapturing e5 and instead playing ...h5, which leads to weird games (and are usually objectively worse for black, but they ARE fun)

Anyways i only know that I play h5 there, and not much else.
