By the way Thank you everyone who gave good advice and/or recommended a book. Of course its a lot of books to read through. I thought i'd start with @kindaspongey and move backward.

Play Berlin.

It is a draw guarantee opening among human database.

It is also a draw guarantee opening choice by Leela. ( Based on the statistics of millions of games during training).

Try to play that Berlin against GM and you'll lose for both sides happy.png

Ask to play any GM vs Stockfish , and they will lose to both sides against any opening.

Just a few tips for you about statistics, you have to remove the other factors. ( both sides against same rating, e.g 3600 engines, 2800 humans, 2000 human etc)

Question on that. Is there a way to statistics that aren't all time. Like could I look up how I'm doing in certain openings within the last week? Or against x level players.

I hardly can imagine a lot of draws between 1000 players in any opening including Berlin.

Between GMs - may be.

the higher the ratings of two equal players--the more draws.  After all chess is a draw with best play...

actually if you are black and play the berlin endgame you will get sharp and rich play not drawish at all.  the boring variations are when white stay away from the endgame and instead try to play with a draw in hand and goes 5.Re1 unless black plays very ambitiously and risky against it

Still seems pretty boring to me.

yeah black CAN choose to play it boring but in this case OP is black so we dont have that problem happy.png but of course not everyone like endgames to that degree

Tdrev

if white goes into the berlin endgame he has a 4 vs 3 pawnmajority on the kingside while black dont have majority that can pass on the queenside so its pretty much a forced loss for black if all officers gets traded so i have a feeling you are talking about 5.Re1 which he sadly does alot and the game isnt enjoyable. just dead symmetry. I stopped trying for the Berlin because 5.Re1 just wasnt interestning to face but hard to force something out of dead symmetry

I like endgames fine.  It's the symmetrical pawns that bore me.

Just noticed you are an NM so there is a chance you already knew everything i told  you xD im no NM but i spent ALOT of hours on the berlin endgame

I like to think it was more than chance.

well it is one of the most complicated endgames in chess theory and you say its "boring and too symmetrical" without more explanation so i dont know what to make out of this but endgames might not be your preferred type of play

Ziryab

How about realistic endings?

The Usual Suspects (1995), for example, ended the ways things ought to end.
