yeah, you have the move order wrong for a benoni.
2 ... c5
4. .... Be7 is wrong. 2. ...c5 is not necessary for the Benoni, it can be played later. If I play the Benoni, like many, I wait until White has played 3. Nf3 sidestepping my usual Nimzo, then 3....c5. 3. e3 in this case does not preclude the Benoni but I usually like to wait for the f pawn to be blocked by White's knight. If you want to keep in Benoni lines play 4.... g6. The other option is angling towards a Tarrasch QGD with 4.... d5.
Other options are 4... b6 or 4... cxd4 both being good, within the Benoni complex but of a somewhat different character.
I really dont like capturing on d4 because white then controls alot of squares and my knights have no where to go
