The French is not inferior to the Caro-Kann.

To the Sicilian, perhaps.

Sicilian v French is like Motel v Hotel , they are one and the same thing and essentially transpose into each other :

None of this is accurate. After e4 e6 d4 c5?? d5! and you’re playing an Old Benoni, not good for Black. After e4 c5 d4?! exd4! and either learn the Alapin transposition or the Smith-Morra refutation and Black should be doing fine. Nobody plays 3… a6? in the e6 Sicilian, nobody plays 3… d5? in the Open Sicilian, nobody plays 4. e5? in the Marshall Sicilian, nobody plays 3. d4?? in the Closed Sicilian, nobody plays 3… d5?? in the Closed Sicilian w/d4, and there’s so much more that I simply can’t be bothered to point out. None of this is correct, it’s unintentionally ignorant at best and misinformation at worst.

hey i find the french cool as well

anyway, yeah too much hate on it as if its like worse than a6

people can talk abt openings with "french sucks" and who cares

but you say "caro innacurate" and everyone is out to get you

again: ck very overrated (it isnt the only good thing)

the other 3 all underrated

hmm... guess whos influencing this.... does he have 3 mil subscribers?

You could double-check it against an opening's database and see that all the moves on the boards transpose from French to Sicilian and Sicilian to French. More to my point of Sicilian v French being Motel v Hotel and you're argument that "nobody plays this and is thus misinformation" is just dumb. Just cos nobody does something doesn't mean it can't be done and if it's misinformation prove it wrong, I checked this against the Chess.com Openings database check it against any other you want. They will come out the same or similar.

It's wrong.

After 1. e4 e6 2. d4 c5

White has two main replies... transposing to the Sicilian with 2. Nf3, or playing 3. d5! which basically refutes Black's attempt at turning a French into a Sicilian.

After 3. Nf3, Black's winning percentage is 35%

After 3. d5! instead, Black's winning percentage is only 27%.

These figures are from the 3.5 million game 365chess database.
