You can play whatever opening you want, but this won't make you a better player- let alone playing something remotely reminiscent to Carlsen's style.

awww noooo!!

this is the news nobody wanted to hear

Okay, it's not only about Carlsen. I know that when i pick up my c pawn and put it on c4, i wont be a better player. It's just that, it's not a trash opening, like g4, that's a trash opening. c4 isnt a trash opening, so why cant we play it?

No one is saying you can't play it. Just play it.

There is a Master that plays 1.g4.  The reason he plays it is it saves him a tempo.  He is an English player.

ya, there isnt a problem with c4, you just need to know how to play it and how to follow up with your pieces, and understand which lines to play. it is complicated if you dont know how to play it, but once you know, everything is downhill from there

c4 is much better than the Parham Attack.

Since nobody knows what that Parham is, then I assume it isn’t good

It's not a joke if it's not funny. Example: this is not a joke because this isn't funny

His opponent didn't notice it.

TeacherOfPain

As most positions are positional openings 1.c4 is a highly positional opening and only those who understand it can play it well.

Beginners are still making blunders and mistakes, of course c4 is not a good move for them. This is not me being harsh but the reality is, if they are making blunders and mistakes they are not good at positional understanding and implementing it on the board.

What most beginners should do is study the principles, study some simple openings(like the italian, four knights, even learn the fried liver, or maybe even the Sicilian defense and its basics), furthermore it is required to study the endgame if they want to get to higher levels, they must have basic understanding of tactics, and basic understanding of positions( such as how to fork, skewer, pin etc., and how to develop a piece, organize an attack, castle, control the center, activate and use pieces properly etc.), there are other skills they need to know but this is the basis of what beginners need to learn.

Such beginners shouldn't play c4 as they don't have the basics downpacked and would ultimatley get destroyed by their own opening they use because they don't understand how to play it, simple as that.

There is nothing wrong with beginners to learn e4(as that is the 90-95% of people learn), but as for d4, Nf3 or c4, it takes much more positional knowledge and understanding, experience, and much more to be effective with it.
